'WandaVision' Episode 6 Spoilers: Will Monica Rambeau become MCU's first mutant Spectrum later in the series?

Although the way she actually acquires her powers in the comics is a tad different, 'WandaVision' will perhaps throw its own spin on it

Spoilers for 'WandaVision' Episode 6

Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau has been a constant topic of discussion since her introduction on 'WandaVision'. The Marvel miniseries continued to make sure it major ties to the MCU by bringing back Monica, who was last seen in 'Captain Marvel' as the daughter of Maria Rambeau, Carol Danvers' (Brie Larson) best friend. In the new series, Monica is an integral part of SWORD, the organization that's involved in trying to figure out what's happening to Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen).

For quite sometime now, Monica has been active as she was sucked in Westview and kicked out. She realizes Wanda needs help and all her creation of the fake reality had a strong reason behind it. Episode 6 sees the mutant explain she was "alone" and this was probably one of the reasons, while Monica and Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) were heading off to get some help. However, prior to this, there was one scene that hinted Monica was on her way to acquire some superpowers.

Although the way she actually acquires her powers in the comics is a tad different, 'WandaVision' will perhaps throw its own spin on it. Going inside the Hex has seemingly modified her DNA and this may subtly imply she's got her mutant gene probably activated. It might also be the first of the MCU showing off mutants although there is still an argument that can be made the Maximoffs were the first. One fan on Twitter pretty much shared the same thought.

"SPOILERS So going inside the Hex has modified Monica Rambeau’s DNA. Does that mean everyone else going in there is being changed too? Are these the first MCU Mutants?" the tweet read, while another seconded: "Oh it answer how Spectrum is coming in MCU #MonicaRambeau #WandaVision"

The orgins section in fandom reads: "Monica was a lieutenant in the New Orleans Harbor Patrol. Fate came upon her one day when she gained superpowers after being bombarded by extra-dimensional energy, produced by an energy disruptor weapon created by a criminal scientist." Should Monica be transformed into Spectrum, this would also mean the introduction of a new superhero in the MCU.
