Verzuz battles have become quite a rage since the concept was first introduced in March 2020 by legendary producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. Currently, in its second season, the audience has been enjoying the epic face-offs with both new school and old school rappers. Now, jumping into the trend, it seems rapper Scorpio, who is a part of the renowned The Furious Five group, wants to go join the battle.

Taking to his Instagram, Scorpio, who is one of the pioneers of hip-hop, penned a special letter to the creators of Verzuz asking them to consider a showdown between his group The Furious Five and The SugarHill Gang. He asked to discuss whether he along with Melle Mel can get the opportunity for a face-off against The SugarHill Gang. Speaking of Verzuz, some of the epic battles came from hip-hop legends such as Monica and Brandy, Snoop Dogg and the late DMX, Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, Nelly and Ludacris, Method Man and Redman and Alicia Keys and John Legend among a few others. The most recent Verzuz saw Bow Wow going against Soulja Boy and Keith Sweat locking horns with Bobby Brown.

The legendary rapper added, “As one of the pioneers of hip hop, I would like to submit a proposal for your consideration on behalf of The Furious 5 featuring Mele Mel & Scorpio and The Sugarhill Gang. Continued success. Looking forward to discussing an opportunity to be a part of the platform.” If the battle between the two groups becomes a reality, they will become the oldest hip-hop performers to grace the Verzuz stage. As of now, this title is held by The Isley Brothers who battled Earth, Wind & Fire on Easter Sunday.
