Timbaland and Swizz Beatz came together for another Verzuz battle after they first locked horns in March 2020, and fans were loving it

The much-awaited Verzuz showdown between the legendary hip-hop producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz finally took place in Miami over the weekend with a live audience. The rematch between the two was nothing less than a masterclass for the hip-hop heads as the duo belted out their biggest hits on the stage.

Kicking off the battle at 5pm PT/ 8pm ET, the official Instagram account of Verzuz built the hype before the ultimate face-off took place. Speaking of Verzuz, fans have earlier enjoyed the battles between Monica and Brandy, Snoop Dogg and the late DMX, Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle, Nelly and Ludacris, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, Gucci Mane and Jeezy, Redman and Alicia Keys and John Legend, among others. The hip-hop fans will also soon see rappers Soulja Boy and Bow Wow facing each other in the Verzuz battle.

Who won the 'Verzuz' battle?

Timbaland and Swizz Beatz, who are the co-creators of Verzuz battle, came together for a showdown for the second time on Verzuz. They had first locked horns in March 2020 at the beginning of the global pandemic in the first-ever Verzuz and the concept was soon picked up by fans as it quickly became a cultural phenomenon. However, the duo originally came under one roof for a showdown at the Hot 97 Summer Jam in 2018.

Speaking of who won the Verzuz battle, the winner is never really announced officially and it is the audience who decides who will bag the crown. The duo, however, came prepared with their respective top hits and completely floored the audience with their energy. They also got shout-outs from Justin Timberlake and Missy Elliott before they headed for the battle. Timbaland and Swizz Beatz dedicated this event to late DMX who died recently and to late hip-hop superstar Aaliyah.

The rematch between Swizz Beatz and Timbaland will surely go down as one of the best Verzuz appearances. The iconic hip-hop record producers have been releasing music for close to three decades. Both Swizz Beatz and Timbaland flaunt an extensive discography that was very much visible during their Verzuz showdown.

Multiple award-winning producer Timbaland has worked with hip-hop heavyweights such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Aaliyah, Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott, and therefore, he performed songs like ‘One in a Million’, ‘The Way I Are’, ‘Give It to Me’, ‘Promiscuous’ and ‘Hot Boyz’, among others. Beatz, on the other hand, boasts an impressive CV with musicians such as Eve, Diddy, Lil’ Wayne, The Weeknd, Drake and the late DMX. He impressed the live audience with his hit singles like ‘It’s Me Bitches’, ‘Fancy’, ‘Get It on the Floor’, ‘Bigger Business’ and ‘Summer on Smash’ among others.
