After the Verzuz battle between Bow Wow and Soulja Boy got the Internet abuzz with hilarious reactions last week, it was now time for a brand new face-off between R&B legends Keith Sweat and Bobby Brown. The two landed on the Verzuz stage with DJ Cassidy and locked horns with their respective chart-topping singles.

While Keith looked all dapper in a semi-formal avatar donning a shiny light blue shirt with white pants, Brown decided to go casual as he rocked a red jacket, a black snapback, and black denim. Speaking of Verzuz, the co-founders Timbaland and Swizz Beatz started the epic face-offs in March 2020. Some of the epic battles came from hip-hop legends like Monica and Brandy, Snoop Dogg and the late DMX, Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, Nelly and Ludacris, Method Man and Redman and Alicia Keys and John Legend among a few others.

Who won between Keith Sweat and Bobby Brown?

The Verzuz face-off between Keith and Brown aired at 5pm PT / 8pm ET on the official Instagram of Verzuz. Since the brand new showdown was organized in association with Essence Fest, fans could also catch all the action on their Instagram and their official website. The Verzuz face-off between the two R&B kings was also up for viewing on the Triller app as well as on Fite TV.

Both Keith and Brown are known for being prominent figures of the New Jack Swing movement back in the '70s and '80s. Both the versatile crooners enjoy an impressive discography and the two showed the same when they belted out their respective hit singles during the face-off. While Keith floored the audience with his hit songs like ‘I Want Her’, ‘Make It Last Forever’, ‘I'll Give All My Love to You’, ‘Make You Sweat’, ‘Get Up on It’, ‘Twisted’ and ‘Nobody’, Brown too put up one hell of a show with his hit tracks 'Rock Wit’cha’, ‘Humpin' Around’, ‘Get Away’ and ‘We Got Something in Common’ among others. While an official winner is never decided during the face-off, it is the Internet that ultimately picks the best one.

‘Bobby Brown about to win without playing three of his best songs’

The Internet was all excited as the two singers went for a Verzuz showdown. However, a few users also noticed how Brown did not play his top hits like ‘My Prerogative’, ‘Every Little Step’ and ‘Good Enough’. Speaking on the same, one user stated, “Bobby Brown about to win without playing 3 of his best songs all while wearing an Avirex in July.” Another remembered Brown’s late wife Whitney Houston and said, “We got somethin in common will forever be a hit. Rest In Peace to the Queen Ms Whitney Houston.”

One user posted, “Keith Sweat is nearly 60 and he’s sounding better than half of these singers out here. That’s what I call pure talent.” Another added, “Bobby Brown after trying to hit notes from when he was fuckin 12!” Another individual added, “Keith sitting up there in that chair lookin like he own 3 laundromats, a couple of liquor stores and a numbers spot!” One tweeted, “One thing about Bobby Brown is that he ALWAYS put on a show.” The next one said, “I don’t care how tired or whatever Bobby is performing. I’m just thankful the man is STILL here! Do what you can!” Meanwhile, one noted, “This #VERZUZ makes me feel like I’m kid back in elementary school #VERZUZ damn I feel old now.” One user concluded, “It’s the chemistry and the comradery (sic) for me!! Love they energy together.”
