'Vanderpump Rules' star Jax Taylor enters in-patient treatment after Brittany Cartwright split
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jax Taylor, known for his role on 'Vanderpump Rules,' has decided to seek in-patient treatment for his mental health issues, as confirmed by The Post. This decision comes after his recent separation from his wife, Brittany Cartwright. The couple, who have been together for over a decade and married for five years, announced their split in February 2024.
However, Taylor has been open about his mental health struggles on his podcast, 'When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany,' where he has candidly discussed the challenges he's faced, especially in the past few months. Taylor hinted at his decision to seek help through a series of social media posts. He shared a photo of two self-help books, 'Get Out of Your Mind & Into Your Life' and 'Set Boundaries, Find Peace,' with the caption “Healing.” Additionally, he posted an inspirational quote over a photo of a Buddha statue, which read, “Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to ask for it.”
Despite their separation, Taylor and Cartwright have remained in communication and continue to co-parent their three-year-old son, Cruz. They were even seen together at public events, such as the White House Correspondents' Dinner in April, although they stayed in separate hotel rooms. Taylor has expressed hope for reconciliation, but both he and Cartwright acknowledge the need for personal growth and healing during this time. Cartwright has added that Taylor needs to focus on himself before any potential reunion.
Brittany Cartwright says she 'doesn't deserve' to be in a relationship with Jax Taylor
Brittany Cartwright has been candid about her difficult relationship with her estranged husband, Jax Taylor. During the June 4 finale of 'The Valley,' Brittany reflected on the challenges she faced in their marriage, leading to their separation.
In the episode, Brittany and Jax were busy opening their sports bar, Jax’s Studio City. Despite Brittany’s efforts, such as flying in Jax’s sister as a surprise, she felt that Jax did not appreciate her. Brittany expressed her frustration to Jax, saying, "It can be frustrating, and I feel like you don't listen to me sometimes. I feel like you’re not even attracted to me sometimes."
Reflecting on her marriage, Brittany shared, "I just feel like I have woken up. Like, I feel so much stronger now. I know I’ll be OK, but I know my worth and I know I do not deserve to be in a relationship like this. What was I thinking staying with him this long?"
Jax Taylor says being married is 'not easy'
Reflecting on his downfall with Cartwright, Jax recalled how their marriage diminished gradually and how it also affected their sex life. "Being married is not easy," he explained. "Going through what we went through, with Covid, and then obviously losing our job on 'Vanderpump' [Rules], and then going through all that and then having a baby, there was a lot of stuff that was just piling down on me and it was crushing me — it would crush anybody."
He further added, "It was Brittany's choice to leave. It wasn't an abusive thing, it wasn't a cheating thing, it's just because we're not communicating. Brittany does very well for herself, I'm sorry. Our house is very, very expensive, I'm not going to carry two mortgages."
