‘Briarpatch’ Episode 9: How will Allegra avenge Felicity with the evil forces in Saint Bonifacio targeting her?
Following the latest strike by Clyde Brattle (Alan Cumming), which at once took down both Jake Spivey (Jay R Ferguson) and Allegra Dill (Rosario Dawson), it seems like she underestimated the perils of the cursed town of Saint Bonifacio which have left her helpless in the middle of a desert.
Episode 9 of ‘Briarpatch’ connects the dots and at last reveals what exactly went down with her sister Felicity Dill (Michele Weaver), who saw a tragic death in a car bombing. While the murder mystery unravels, Allegra and Jake’s fondness for each other takes the center stage, though briefly. But the last few minutes of the episode teases numerous possibilities for the rest of the series, as all the evil forces in the home city of Texas turn against Allegra, including the ones she laid her trust in.
The latest installment also sees a killer on the loose, as Clyde Brattle brands Gene Colder (Brian Geraghty), turning him to a permanent murderer from a crooked cop. And now, in the chase for a better life, Colder is determined to finish Jake.
Meanwhile, to ensure his own immunity, Clyde strikes deal with the Senator and Cyrus (Charles Parnell), which promises to take down some of the biggest names in politics along with Allegra, who has now turned into a liability in the presidential campaign.
Allegra, who was until now grappling with politics and considering getting out of a city which she never intended to come to in the first place, realizes she was deceived by nearly everyone in Saint Banifacio expect Jake. And, after hearing the recorded conversation between Clyde and Senator which AD Singe (Edi Gathegi) brings to her, she is further determined to take them all down. However, her mission is bound to be faced with endless obstacles, taking into consideration the people who are after her life.
Jake, who was once thought to be the most powerful man is seen staring at his own portrait with a bullet hole in the head, alarmed by Clyde’s presence. Unlike before, she couldn’t seek Harold Snow’s (Timm Sharp) help as he’s no more and Eve Raytek couldn’t care less about bringing justice to Felicity as she’s busy working towards finding a place for herself in the world of politics.
Allegra is on her own, but unlike before, she’s now driven by a clear vision and vengeance. But, we need to wait and watch if she will be able to overpower Clyde’s evil streak, which has wiped off many from the face of the earth already.
‘Briarpatch’ airs on Mondays on ABC.
