'Unknown Origins aka 'Orígenes Secretos': Meet Javier Ray, Verónica Echegui and rest of the cast of Netflix Spanish thriller
Netflix's upcoming Spanish thriller will be a treat for comic book geeks. The dark murder mystery is based on a killer who recreates superhero origin stories and attempting to stop him is Inspector David (Javier Rey) along with some help from comic nerds, Jorge (Brays Efe) and Norma (Verónica Echegui). The trio gets caught in a savage murder case and time isn't on their side as the mystery killer murders people one at a time.
Ahead of the much-awaited film, here's who's who in the thriller.
Javier Rey as David
Rey plays David, a suit-wearing, somber-looking, chiseled cop who is tasked with the case to nab the killer. Rey is known for his roles as Sito Miñanco in 'Cocaine Coast' (2018), Javier in 'Sin Fin' (2018), David-Trigo in 'Not The End' (2014) and Alejo in 'Hispania, la Leyenda' (2010-2012). His new releases include 'El Verano Que vivimos' and 'La casa de caracol' which is in post-production.
Verónica Echegui as Norma
Norma is introduced as a cosplayer in the trailer. However, she is the chief of the homicide department. She partners with David to solve the case. Echegui is known for her roles as Luciana in 'Trust' (2019), Elena Ledesma in 'Fortitude' (2014-2017), Susana in 'You're Killing Me Susana' (2016) and Claudia in 'Let Yourself Go' (2017).
Her most recent roles include 'The Offering,' 'My Heart Goes Boom!' and '3Caminos' which is currently filming.
Brays Efe as Jorge
Efe is known for the Spanish comedy series, 'Paquita Salas' and 'Por H or Por B'. In 'Unknown Origins', Ege plays Jorge, a comic-geek supporting David and Norma. He is roped in for his innate knowledge of comic stories
The official synopsis reads, "Cops (Javier Rey, Antonio Resines) join comic book and cosplay geeks (Brays Efe, Verónica Echegui) to nab a killer re-creating superhero origin stories." You can watch the trailer here:
Other members of the cast include Leonardo Sbaraglia as Paco, Álex García as Javier, Ernesto Alterio as Bruguera, Brays Efe as Jorge Elias, Carlos Areces as Galván, Antonio Resines as Cosme, Fran Bleu as Victor Vid and Roman Rymar as Felipe.
'Unknown Origins' premieres August 28 on Netflix.
