The ongoing defamation trial has already revealed several shocking details about Amber Heard and Johnny Depp's past relationship. Among other things, tidbits about the couple's shared penthouse on the top floor of the Eastern Columbia Building on Broadway, Los Angeles have piqued the curiosity of netizens lately.

Reportedly, Depp, 58, owned five penthouses in the same building between 2013 and 2016, and most of them were used by Heard’s friends and relatives for free. One penthouse was used as a living space by Depp’s longtime friend Isaac Baruch. Heard’s sister Whitney Henriquez also reportedly lived in one of the penthouses between 2014 and 2015. Besides, Heard’s pal Rocky Pennington and her then-husband Joshua Drew also stayed at the property.

Depp and Heard had been in a relationship for around two years before tying the knot in 2015. However, the pair got divorced within two years. Later, in 2018, the ‘Aquaman’ actress wrote a Washington Post op-ed describing herself as a survivor of domestic violence. She did not name anyone in the piece but Depp’s team has claimed it pointed at their client. They sued her for $50 million and in return, Heard countersued, demanding $100 million.

As the case has grabbed public attention and consistently hogged headlines, several fans and supporters of Depp have taken to trolling Heard’s friends, calling them freeloaders as they apparently lived rent-free in the ‘Edward Scissorhands’ star’s California real estate. One such user tweeted, “Here we have #AmberHeard’s little clan of flying monkeys. She claimed Johnny isolated her, yet she had her friends living with them in his penthouses rent-free & called the cops on him when they knew their free ride was over. 🙄🤡🤦🏻‍♀️ #DeppHeardTrial #JusticeForJohnnyDepp.”

Another wrote: “ALL OF AMBER HEARD'S FRIENDS IS SO AFRAID OF JOHNNY DEPP THAT THEY EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT LIVING IN HIS PENTHOUSES FOR FREE. THAT'S WHAT YOU CALLED SCARED! WHAT A CRAP!! FREELOADERS!!!!” “Johnny Depp isolated Amber Heard from her friends & family apparently, apart from inviting all her freeloader friends & sister to live rent free in penthouses right next to him. That doesn’t count obviously 🤦🏻‍♂️ #JusticeForJohnnyDepp #AmberHeardIsALiar #DeppVsHeard,” a third user noted.

One user tweeted, “All of the freeloaders (Amber’s friends) were druggies, who lived rent free in the monster’s PENTHOUSES and who were so scared for Amber, that they just did more drugs with her at Johnny’s house. Got it. Yea he hit her. #amberheard #JohnnyDeppVsAmberHeard #JusticeForJohnnyDeep.”

Another remarked: “Friends of Amber Heard testify, Johnny Depp was an alcoholic and bad drug user, while these same witnesses consumed and participated in using these same licors and drugs, paid for and provided free by JD. Included, paid bonus of living rent free for penthouses paid by JD. What?”
