Contains spoilers for 'True Detective: Night Country'
ENNIS, ALASKA: 'True Detective: Night Country' takes a twisted turn as Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) gets possessed while Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) gets another lead.
In Episode 4, Liz instructs the police department to search for a man named Otis Heiss, who is recorded to have similar injuries as the Tsalal researchers.
However, his discovery turns out to bring another thick layer to the mysteries mentioning the term 'Night Country' for the first time in the season.
Otis Heiss spotted wearing Raymond Clark's coat
The sighting of a man near the abandoned dredge prompts Evangeline Navarro and Liz Danvers to follow through.
The Ennis police department is actively looking for Raymond Clark (Owen McDonnell), who is a notable suspect. Hoping to find Raymond, Danvers goes deep into the vessel.
However, as she corners the man, she is shocked to know that it is Otis Heiss instead. Otis is seen wearing an orange coat with fur on the cap. Danvers asks, "Who gave you that coat? Was it Raymond Clark?"
Otis, who appears to be scared, mentions that Clark is gone. He adds, "He went back to hide. He's hiding in the night country. We are all in the night country now."
The enigmatic coat was initially seen in the first episode when Danvers was going through the clues and came across a picture of Clark wearing the same coat.
The coat also established a connection between Clark and Annie Kowtok who was also seen wearing the same coat in one of the pictures.
The coat holds deeper secrets
The coat seems to be somehow connected to the shadowy past of Ennis. It appears to be a symbol of hidden connections between mysterious deaths and supernatural events.
Rose Aguineau (Fiona Shaw) was also seen wearing an orange-brown coat when she was following Travis' ghost. This seems to be more than a coincidence.
The recurring spirals had already tied us with supernatural mystery, and now the presence of a coat hints at a deeper web of connections waiting to be unraveled.
The upcoming episodes will delve deeper into the shadows of the past, the long-hidden secrets, and their connection to the dark forces that lurk in the shadows of the Night Country, blurring the lines between reality and the supernatural.
Four episodes of 'True Detective: Night Country' are streaming on HBO.
