'True Detective: Night Country' revolves around two detectives, Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro. The pair is set to reunite for an investigation into an old case involving research scientists discovered frozen.

The storyline tantalizingly suggests the presence of supernatural elements. Moreover, the season extensively explores the realm of the unexplained and will feature detectives navigating through both the literal and metaphorical cold.

The official synopsis reads, “When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”

Kali Reis, who plays Detective Liz Danvers, is an American professional boxer and actress. A former world champion in two weight classes, she held the WBC female middleweight title in 2016 and the WBA, WBO, and IBO female light welterweight titles from 2020 to 2022. 

Reis made her acting debut in the thriller film ‘Catch the Fair One’ in 2021, earning a Best Female Lead nomination at the 37th Independent Spirit Awards for her role as a boxer trying to rescue her missing sister.

John Hawkes

Hawkes is recognized for his notable performances in films such as ‘Winter's Bone’ (2010) and ‘The Sessions’ (2012).
