'True Beauty' Episode 12 comic spoilers: Did Soo-jin out Ju-kyung's secret? Su-ho may see friends turn bullies
At the end of 'True Beauty' Episode 11, Soo-jin had seen Ju-kyung and Su-ho share a kiss after a heartbreaking moment for Su-ho. This results in her anger and from what we see, this also leads her down the dark path. She is the only person in school who knows how Ju-kyung really looks. Initially, she had been supportive of Ju-kyung and had even helped her hide the truth, but when she learned that Su-ho was in love with Ju-kyung, everything changed. However, she was manipulative enough to not let Ju-kyung know so she is essentially not even guarded against Soo-jin's evil plans.
Neither is Su-ho for that matter. Instead, we will see how Ju-kyung's old classmate from when she was bullied might turn things around for Ju-kyung and lead her back to the days where she was shamed for her looks. The only ones who can really stop this is if her friends stand by her stand and not abandon her but with Soo-jin acting out against Ju-kyung, would this even be possible? There is also the matter of Soo-jin having seen how Ju-kyung's former classmate had taken pictures of her and it is possible that she could collaborate with the bullies from Ju-kyung's old school.
If Soo-jin hadn't stooped this low, what else could have caused Su-ho's disappointment in her? Can Soo-jin be redeemed or will she end up like her comic counterpart? You see, in the comics, Soo-jin was a one-dimensional character with no agency of her own and was born out of the mean girl mold who hides her bitterness under the guise of beauty. When the show had begun, fans had been ecstatic about Soo-jin getting her own character arc. She was not the girl who would get everything done by manipulating others and using others. However, the recent developments show how she is very much headed in the same direction on the show as well and that is why we wonder if there is any redemption at all for her.
On the other hand, Su-ho may have finally found closure after confronting his father and having that no-holds-barred conversation. Now that he would be free, or at least as free as he possibly can be from the guilt that he had been living with, we will address the issue of bullying and extreme judgments that are being made based on looks.
'True Beauty' episodes will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10.30 pm on tvN in Seoul and can be streamed on Viki in the US.
