Travis Scott teases Young Thug collaboration with 'Franchise' video, fans say they're 'excited for this one'
Travis Scott has given a taste of his new collaborative single 'Franchise' on Twitter on Wednesday, September 23. The 'Goosebumps' rapper made the announcement of the new track on September 21, and before its release, Scott has given fans an idea of what it will sound like via his social media.
The highly anticipated song will feature rappers Young Thug and reportedly M.I.A., and is set to be a homage to the hip-hop group Dem Franchize Boyz. 'Franchise' is dropping this week on September 25.
Although Scott hasn't confirmed that M.I.A. would be joining the song, M.I.A. did recently announce that she has received her visa to the US (without giving a reason as to why she is coming), so presumably, her trip is to become a part of the 'Franchise' creation.
Scott shared a video on his Twitter showing the rapper and Young Thug behind a computer in an apartment and spitting some lines during the recording process. The one-minute clip doesn't let out too much of the song structure but gives a good idea of the style. The song dips into a darker sound, with a fattened and thumping beat and eerie synth of rap. After adjusting the speed of the track to just the right tempo, Scott and Young Thug add their vocal layers. Check out the video below:
Fans were impressed with what they heard so far, sharing their excitement with comments like "Goat vibes" and "WE READY" and "LETS GOOOOOO." "Excited for this one trav," said one fan while another described the song as "lit."
'Franchise' will mark Scott’s second solo track for the year. His previous single ‘The Plan‘, arrived on August 21 and features in the action-thriller spy film, 'Tenet', directed by Christopher Nolan. Scott’s latest solo full-length and third studio album in total is ‘Astroworld’, which released in 2018. The album, which scored Album of the Year at 2019's BET Hip Hop Awards, features guest vocals from Kid Cudi, Frank Ocean, Drake, The Weeknd, James Blake, Philip Bailey, 21 Savage, Swae Lee, Gunna, Nav, Quavo, Takeoff, Juice Wrld, Sheck Wes and Don Toliver. This year the rapper has also teamed up with high-profile artists from the likes of Kanye for 'Wash Us in the Blood', Rosalía for 'TKN', Kid Cudi for 'THE SCOTTS', and more. One of the other highlights of Scott's 2020 efforts was back in April when he gave a special nod for the video game community, performing a virtual concert in 'Fortnite'.
