'Total Bellas' season 4: Are the twins leaving Total Divas because their own show is in trouble?
Although it hasn't been officially confirmed, the reason for this abrupt exit could most certainly be because of the low ratings the reality show has had in its current fourth season
The Bella twins are reportedly leaving the WWE reality show 'Total Divas' after being part of the series for eight long and highly successful seasons. In case you didn't know, the Bella sisters' solo show 'Total Bellas' is actually a spin-off of 'Total Divas'. The twins are said to be leaving the series to focus on 'Total Bellas' and although it hasn't been officially confirmed, the reason for this abrupt exit could most certainly be because of the low ratings the reality show has had in its current fourth season.
The ratings and viewership for the current season of Total Bellas have been dismal, to say the least. They've been declining ever since the season premiered in January this year and as of episode 3, the viewership has been the lowest so far. The season premiere had a total of 0.51 million viewers tuning in and a rating of 0.23 in the important 18-49 demographic. The second episode had 0.46 million viewers and a smaller rating of 0.20 in the 18-49 demographic. The third episode scored even lower - just 0.45 million viewers and a rating of 0.19 in the 18-49 demographic. Episode 4 drew approximately 0.39 million viewers - the lowest of the lot. To be fair, the episode was on the same day as the Grammy awards and 'The Walking Dead' midseason premiere.
This considerable decline from an average of 0.79 million viewers to 0.59 million viewers in the first, second and third season should definitely be a cause of concern for the show. With the ratings so low and the audience pull so weak, there's a huge possibility that the show will not be brought back for another season - if they don't perform better that is. While this season is as great as ever to those who love watching the twins, a possible reason why the show has lost fans could be because of the very noticeable absence of a certain WWE superstar.

When John Cena and Nikki Bella broke up last year, in a mess that can only be described as one of the worst splits in the industry, it did seem like the 'Total Bellas' brand would take a hit. Cena had been an integral part of the show, perhaps even more important than Brie's hubby Daniel Bryan. Their split could have rubbed the audience in the wrong way. The show had allowed the world to see a different side to Cena and perhaps that was one of the wow factors of the reality show.
Last season, when Cena and Nikki broke up on the show, the series actually hit its highest ratings ever among its total viewers. 1.1 million total viewers, with 717,000 of them from the 18-49 demographic; the episode was like the last hurrah that the show has had. The Bellas need to create some magic to get the show back on its feet, really quickly.
