Who are Top 10 artists of 2020 Year-End Genius Korea Chart? BTS, Blackpink and (G)I-dle claim top spots

To compile and concise the data, Genius includes total page views and concurrent page views via lyric searches

Genius Korea has released its year-ending top artist chart where the major K-pop artists are ranked based on the number of lyric searches on the platform. The top three spots of the artist list have been claimed by BTS, Blackpink and (G)I-dle respectively. BTS V has also ranked high as 6th in the list as a solo artist for the massive success of his songs, including ‘Sweet Night’ and ‘Blue and Grey’.

According to Genius Korea, the list is updated based on a few parameters, the first being the song has to be released in the current year 2020. The chart includes all the releases where the artist is credited as the main artist and featured artist. All the major releases, singles, albums, OSTs, and collaborations are eligible for the ranking. To compile and concise the data, Genius includes total page views and concurrent page views via lyric searches on Genius.

SuperM has ranked 11th, followed by Twice, IU, TXT, Ateez, Wonho, Seventeen, Baekhyun, Jessi, IZ*ONE, Loona, Lee Hi, TREASURE, Taemin, Jay Park, Hwasa, GFRIEND, GOT7, CL and Chung Ha.

For the Top 10 spots, fans were overjoyed to see two BTS singers and rappers ranking individually along with the group. While BTS V ranked 6th with his record-breaking OST ‘Sweet Night’ and top B-side chart ‘Blue and Grey’ from the album ‘BE’, the rapper SUGA aka Agust D aka Min Yoongi also stood at 10 with his mixtape release D-2 which turned to one of the most critically acclaimed rap releases of all time.

K-pop fans have been celebrating the success all over social media as they flood the microblogging site with messages for their favorite artist. A BTS fan wrote, “V is the highest solo artist to chart on 2020 Year-End Genius Korea Top Artist Chart with just Sweet Night, an unpromoted OST. Proud is an understatement.
