With only four episodes down, the audience is already having mixed reactions about the crime drama and this could set the trend for the show's future

CBS's latest crime procedural took off with a lot of hype. With some of network television's finest and popular faces of primetime, 'Tommy' showed a lot of promise. To start with, watching Edie Falco in the lead is a high point in itself. But when you are talking about a series, it cannot simply ride on a single actor. Although her character does drive the story, it cannot impact every episode all by itself. Fans have started to notice this. Despite a strong plotline and highly talented actors, the show has not yet managed to touch the audience at the right points.

A new viewer of the show says, "Watching for the first time. Not bad. Not in the same league as #Swat #SwatCBS #CriminalMinds #FBI #FBICBS #FBIMostWanted and #BlueBloods...but it has potential. #CBS #Tommy."

While we don't want to compare it with other crime dramas, we have to say that the fan is not quite wrong. We have discussed earlier how some sub plots and storylines seem a tad clichéd, revolving only around trending issues. However, other hit crime procedurals have managed to take it up a notch and created more drama and conflict around the characters, making them more intriguing.

Another fan on Twitter commented, "The acting in #tommy is superb. I just don't know if it grabs me emotionally just yet." Some fans who have seen Falco and other actors in other shows earlier, however, seem to like the show. "Gonna give a shot to #Tommy Seems like a good series," says one.

"@MichaelChernus so cool to see you working with edie on tommy after I just watched you on nurse jackie. loving this show so far! #Tommy," adds another.

Let's find out if this series picks up pace in the future and stands out among its competition.

'Tommy' airs every Thursday night at 10pm/9c, only on ABC.
