'Spider-Man: No Way Home' hit movie theatres on December 17, and it didn't take long for fans to wonder what next. After the ending of 'No Way Home', many speculated if Tom Holland's Spidey was done. However, Marvel Studios producer Kevin Fiege quickly put a pin in those rumors, confirmed that the hero was far from done. In an interview published the same day, Feige confirmed that the fan-favorite was indeed getting more films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Warning: some spoilers ahead for the movie, so you might want to stop reading now if you've not seen it yet.

As we mentioned in our review of the film, it's a real tearjerker that "does is offer immense fan service" and "evokes cheers, whoops, and gasps in equal measure." Notably, almost all the leaks and rumors turned out to be accurate from the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to the cameo of Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock. But that's all in the past now. The big question is - what's in store in the future?

Holland's future has always been a mixed bag. Earlier, the star himself said "I don't know... I just think there are endless opportunities for me to do what I want, and doing what I want might not be in the film industry." Producer Amy Pascal added to the vagueness by saying on the red carpet, "As long as (Holland) wants to make Spider-Man movies, we will make Spider-Man movies." Fans can now rest easy knowing that for now, both Sony and Marvel do seem committed to keeping Holland around.

Spidey's fate confirmed by Feige

Speaking to The New York Times, Fiege said, "Amy and I and Disney and Sony are talking about — yes, we’re actively beginning to develop where the story heads next." He went on to reveal why he was giving away the news now, telling the paper, "I only say outright because I don’t want fans to go through any separation trauma like what happened after 'Far From Home'." But Feige went even further, revealing "He’s going to show up sometime. The when and the where, of course, is the fun part — and the part that we don’t talk about."

It certainly seems as if Disney and Sony are keen to keep Holland's web-slinger around. After the box office success of 'No Way Home', fans certainly have an appetite for the character. It also seems as if the companies laid the groundwork for future Spidey movies with 'No Way Home', predominantly with the ending. "That gives us a lot to work with for the next film," Pascal told The Times.

There are a few threads Marvel can pull on for the next film. For one, there's the presence of the Venom symbiote in the MCU, as confirmed by the first post-credits scene. There are also the characters from past MCU movies that Marvel is yet to use like Aaron Davis and Matt Gargan. Irrespective of which direction Marvel and Sony chose to go in, you can rest assured that it's going to be a while before Holland shows up again in a solo film.

With Marvel's slate pretty packed for the next 2-3 years, it's unclear where they will squeeze another Spidey film in, but as Feige hinted, we may see him in some other MCU projects well before that.
