After months of speculation, rumors, and leaks, Marvel Studios' 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' is finally hitting theatres on December 17. The movie held its world premiere in Los Angeles on December 13, and fans had only one question on their mind - would Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield show up? The stars have been heavily rumored (and occasionally leaked) to feature in the highly anticipated film, so a red carpet appearance would almost certainly give the game away.

From Simu Liu (who plays Shang-Chi) to Jared Leto (Morbius), plenty of Sony and Marvel stars showed up for the premiere event in LA. But so far, there appears to be no sight of Tobey and Andrew. As we reported on November 17, Sony and Marvel may have accidentally leaked their roles in the film through the poorly edited second trailer. Others that are rumored to appear in the film, but haven't been seen on the red carpet include Thomas Haden Church, Rhy Ifans, and Charlie Cox

While both Chruch and Ifans' characters are confirmed to appear in the film through marketing material, Marvel and Sony have attempted to keep Tobey, Andrew and Cox a bigger secret. That said, at this point, it's almost a given the trio will appear in some capacity. The question is rather - will Marvel give up the secret before fans have had a chance to see the film? Based on the premiere event, it appears not.

'No Way Home' premiere missing key stars

At the time of reporting, the premiere event has kicked off in LA with a huge list of stars attending. Tom Holland, Zendeya, Jacob Batalon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Marissa Tomei, Jon Favreau, William Defoe, Jamie Foxx, J.K. Simmons, and Benedict Wong have all made their way to LA. Also snapped at the event were Simu Liu, Jared Leto, Kumail Nanjiani, and Xochitl Gomez. While Leto plays Morbius in Sony's universe, Gomez has been cast as America Chavez in the upcoming 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.'

Surprisingly, Alfred Molina hasn't shown up, even though he's appeared in other events for the movie. Notably, though, there was no sign of Tobey, Andrew, or Cox. Also rumored to appear in the film, but not making a red carpet appearance are Church, Ifans, and Tom Hardy. They however weren't missed as much as Tobey and Andrew. Since the duo is yet to show up, the net has quickly become flooded with memes in response.

"Tobey Maguire tryna get into the no way home premiere but this mf shows up," one person joked with a still from 'Spider-Man 3'. Another used a still from 'The Office' to tweet, "Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield pulling up to the Spider-Man premiere." One person used Captain America's dialogue in 'Avengers: Endgame' to say, "Tobey Maguire or we riot." "Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in #SpiderManNoWayHome World Premiere," another memed with an image from 'Thor: Ragnarok'.

A bunch of other users also speculated that the two may not appear in the movie at all, leading to tweets like, "Imagine how funny it would be if Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield didnt appear in the new spiderman movie." Another tweeted, "Imagine Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield arnt in no way home and at the end of the movie Captain America pulls up a chair and starts going “so….”." One person joked, "Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield might be using the invisibility cloak at the No way home premiere."

Given that the film is just days away, it's highly unlikely the two won't be at any promo events for now. 'No Way Home' is scheduled to release on December 15 in the UK, December 16 in India and other regions, and December 17 in the US.
