NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘Today’ host Carson Daly recently put on a crying face on his first day shooting ‘The Voice’ as he misses his co-star and beloved friend Blake Shelton. He took to Instagram to share his love for Blake Shelton as he posted a snap that looked like he was fake crying.

Carson Daly recently marked his 50th birthday with a special celebration on the ‘Today’ show, joined by his wife and three daughters. Despite his teenage son not being present, Carson's family serenaded him with a rendition of the birthday song on air. Kelly Clarkson, a member of Carson's ‘The Voice’ family, also joined in the birthday song. The camera captured the joyful moment with Carson holding his young daughter while his co-hosts and Kelly raised their glasses and sang.

What happened to Carson Daly?

In a recent Instagram post, ‘Today’ anchor Carson Daly looked glum over his first day shooting ‘The Voice’ without ex-co-host and close friend, Blake Shelton. He gave an emotional caption to the post, “My first day ever shooting @nbcthevoice without @blakeshelton.” The photo captures Carson Daly in the process of having his hair trimmed as he prepares for the show, receiving hair and makeup treatments. He continued, “We had a ritual of getting hair & makeup together for 23 seasons. I think I’m handling it well. Everything’s fine.” Amid the hair and makeup preparations, Carson’s facial expression and joking remarks indicated his displeasure. The hosts of ‘The Voice’, including Carson, had developed a close bond during their time together on the show. However, with Blake Shelton's departure after Season 23, Carson and the remaining hosts found themselves missing their on-set pal as the show continued without him.

Carson Daly’s slip-up

During the broadcast of the ‘Today’ show held on Friday, June 30, Carson Daly shocked himself and his co-hosts when he unintentionally let an embarrassing comment slip out. While discussing the summer concert series and the participation of Olivia Rodrigo, Carson expressed his excitement by exclaiming, “This is the best summer since I've been on the show, artist-wise. Artists are lining up to get out there.” In his enthusiasm, Carson added, “Because New York is showing up and showing out! As Jackson would say, 'It's lit!'” Immediately realizing his use of the slang term, Carson apologized and covered his face with his papers, stating, “I'm 50, I'm sorry.” Despite his embarrassment, his co-hosts groaned and laughed, with Al Roker humorously remarking that it was just sad.
