Children see magic because they look for it... And some have imaginary friends when they can't find the one they would really want to play with. In Randall Pearson's case, he imagines his parents. On the new episode of ‘This Is Us’ — titled ‘Brotherly Love’ — Randall (Sterling K Brown) talks about his Ghost Kingdom. 

“It is the imaginary land you imagine you had if you were never adopted... I realized I have had this Ghost Kingdom all my life,” he tells Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley). “Since I never knew who my birth parents were, I imagined the nice librarian and the local media guy from the news were my parents... They were the only two adults I saw that looked like me.”

​When Kevin asks him, “You still think about it? The imaginary kingdom?” Randall replies, “It's always the same... The Weatherman and the Librarian. And you guys.” He confesses how difficult it was for him to be in his imaginary land. He felt guilty because his parents were so nice and yet somehow he couldn't connect. 

Towards the end of the episode, he imagines his real parents — William and Laurel — cooking a nice little meal and holding Randall in their arms. They make him dance and live their perfect life together. As Randall lives that dream, he realizes the Ghost Kingdom will never really fade away from his mind. The Weatherman and the Librarian will always be a part and parcel wherever he goes.

‘This Is Us’ premiered on Tuesday at 9 pm ET on NBC after the mid-season winter break with Episode 5 titled ‘A Long Road Home’ on January 5, 2021. After a one-week break, Episode 12 titled ‘Both Things Can Be True’ aired on April 6, 2021 and now Episode 13 ‘Brotherly Love’ will be telecasted on April 12, 2021.

The episode will be able to stream on Hulu the next day, on April 7, 2021. Binge-watch Season 5 episodes on NBC.com and the NBC App. Not just that, you can stream old seasons on Amazon Prime too.
