'This Is Us' Season 4 Episode 13: Is Kate's 'phone call' a hint she will leave Toby for her neighbor Gregory?

Timothy Omundson, who plays Kate's neighbor Gregory on 'This Is Us', was first introduced in Season 4 Episode 3 'Unhinged'. His character seems to have moved forth pretty quickly because in this week's episode, 'A Hell of a Week: Part Three', Kate Pearson (Chrissy Metz) called him instead of Toby Damon (Chris Sullivan).

After the retreat, Kate was in the hotel room when she was talking to Gregory and seemed happier than she's been around Toby in a long time. Later, she confessed to her mom, Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore) that it was Gregory on the phone instead of Toby as he is struggling with accepting their baby's blindness. The distances only seem to be growing between the couple. So is that a hint for a possible romantic connection with Gregory?

In the scene from the flash-forward, teenager Jack tells Toby that "they’re on their way". Is that a reference to Kate and Jack... and Gregory? Well, fans certainly think so.

"Is Kate gonna end up with Gregory?! I no longer ship Katoby, not since this season began. I hope she finds someone fully willing to love her AND her son. They’re a great package deal," one posted.

Another fan wrote, "I was very pleased to see Gregory return. The curmudgeon seems to have softened a bit. Like Kate, he’s just trying to navigate new territory, and identify & avoid new obstacles." Making a prediction, one fan posted, "Prediction: Kate and Tony get divorced. She ends up with Gregory." 

Some viewers, however, are shocked. "She called Gregory instead of Toby," one wrote and another said, "My face when she was talking to Gregory instead of Toby." Another fan wondered, "Do Kate and Gregory like each other?" 

A few fans are clear though. "I want Kate to divorce Toby and get together with Gregory," one tweet read and another said, "OK. I thought this for a while but I think Kate ends up with their neighbor Gregory. I love Toby but sometimes people grow apart. #ThisIsUs."

As more 'This Is Us' episodes air next week, Kate and Gregory's bond may grow stronger with time. But will she really divorce Toby or are they just not on talking terms? Only time will tell.
