1. Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez had lupus, an autoimmune condition. Her kidneys experienced difficulties as a result and she was added to the waiting list for organ donors. Gomez said she didn't want to approach anyone in her life for a donation, but Francia Raisa, who was then her flatmate and best friend, offered to help.
2. Sarah Hyland
Sarah Hyland, a star from 'Modern Family', was given a kidney dysplasia diagnosis many years ago. She required a transplant in 2012, and her father provided one of his kidneys for the surgery. Unfortunately, she required a second transplant in 2017 because her body began to reject the new organ. One of her brother's kidneys was given to her at that time.
3. James Redford
James Redford needed a liver transplant due to ulcerative colitis. He had a second transplant just in time to save his life after the procedure went wrong. He also made a documentary titled 'The Kindness of Strangers' about the people who donate and receive organs. On October 16, 2020, James Redford died, STARS INSIDER reported.
4. Tracy Morgan
Tracy Morgan, a comedian and actor needed a kidney transplant in 2010 due to complications from diabetes. His ex-girlfriend Tanisha Hall gave him one of her kidneys. Sadly, their relationship ended, but he continued to publicly appreciate her for her sacrifice.
5. Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs received a liver transplant in 2009 in addition to his long struggle with pancreatic cancer, which is well known. Although it wasn't verified, there was speculation that his powerful position and considerable riches enabled him to bypass the organ donation waiting list. He passed away in 2011 at the age of 56.
