'The Walking Dead' is almost here. AMC surprised fans by dropping the teaser for the bonus six episodes, and a lot seems to be happening in it, including Aaron putting a gun to his head, new villains surfacing, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) seeing a shadow of his former self and the first appearance of Hilarie Burton's Lucille, Negan's late wife who died before the apocalypse. The new episodes are probably going to shine a light on Negan's dark past before he became the redeemed fellow that he is now and even before he began to bash people's heads in with a baseball bat.

So, who is Lucille and how did she die?

"My first wife was a real wife. My only real wife. Till death did us part. It was before this. I lied to her, I screwed around with her... And she was sick... And when she went.. When she went it was during this... I couldn't put her down... That is how I was weak."

Negan had given this explanatory dialogue about Lucille back in the day. We don't know much about her, apart from these lines, except that the couple lived together in Virginia, till she got pancreatic cancer, prior to the apocalypse. She went through chemotherapy, which explains why she had to wear multi-colored wigs. It's not as if Negan was particularly a devoted husband to her, as he was cheating on her with different women. However, after she died, Negan did not want to 'put her down' after she was reanimated, which he calls his weakness. Hence, he named his deadly weapon Lucille after her. Later, he had revealed that he would have loved to have a child with Lucille.

Losing Lucille changed Negan as a person, and made him lose all sense of feelings and emotions, which still doesn't explain murdering people with a baseball bat, but alright. We're going to get a deeper insight into Negan and Lucille's backstory in the upcoming episodes. Moreover, Negan might just die at Maggie's hands as she wants revenge for the murder of her husband.

Season 10 new episodes of 'The Walking Dead' will return on February 28 at 9 pm on AMC.
