'The Voice' Season 24 viewers fume as NBC montages Team John Legend's singers' battle round episode
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: After the October 24 episode of 'The Voice' Season 24, viewers expressed their outrage at the network's decision to montage battles involving John Legend's team.
Upset viewers took to social media to voice their disappointment over missing the incredible performance between JaRae Womack and Lila Forde, who performed 'Killing Me Softly with His Song' by Roberta Flack.
John said, "Something about Lila just stood out. It’s this slinky, beautiful, classic ‘70s singer/songwriter. She was demanding to advance to the Knockouts. I believe I have a couple of people on Team Legend that could win The Voice.”
John believed that Lila's exceptional "slinky, beautiful, classic '70s singer-songwriter" voice was too outstanding to overlook for the Knockout rounds, and her unique talent ultimately sealed the deal.
On X, fans wrote, "Hate to say it but I think Julia vs Olivia should've been montaged instead of Caleb vs Talakai or especially Lila vs JaRae." Another person chimed in, "LILA AND JARAE DID NOT DESERVE THAT MONTAGE BOOOOO."

On YouTube, fans wrote, "How did one of the four chair turns get eliminated without us even seeing her sing? JaRae was ROBBED. This was a poor episode that cut off great singers and had some bad song choices." While another added, "was really looking forward to Lila's performance!"
Others further commented, "Jarae is one of my favorite auditions and yet I never see her performance why she was not chosen very unfair." One person also noted, "How dare you cut Lila and JaRae. Shame, shame, shame. Two four chair turns."
Who is Jarae Womack on 'The Voice' Season 24?
Jarae's great-grandfather was soul superstar Sam Cooke, and she is Bobby Womack's niece. Jarae explains in a video profile she put on YouTube seven years ago that her heritage comes with great expectations.
She certainly lives up to her lineage in the excellent 2014 track 'Sound of a Woman', which was created to raise awareness of domestic abuse.
Jarae is one of three musicians featured on 'We Thank You' a song released in 2013-14 to honor Nelson Mandela.
Jarae was driving for Lyft to make ends meet in 2017 when she was called to audition for a corporate ad. She was astonished to be performing in front of pop diva Demi Lovato when she came for the audition.
Who is Lila Forde on 'The Voice' Season 24?
Lila is a Seattle-based musician in her mid-20s, who describes her music as a combination of jazz, folk, and singer-songwriter styles. She's also one of the Season 24 contestants who has already released music.
In her instance, this includes a six-song EP called 'In Another Life' from 2021, as well as more recent songs like 'Come Loose' and 'All I Expected'.
Lila grew up surrounded by music. Her mother is an accomplished classical pianist. Lila stated that she began "getting really into jazz" in high school and chose to study music in college as well.
She ended up attending the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music and was a student there when she launched her EP.
A successful Kickstarter effort aided in the funding of that EP, which Lila claims was recorded when Covid-19 struck and the world came to a halt.
Lila was also a member of Thorton's Afro-Latin American Jazz Ensemble and received the Manilow Scholarship while at USC.
Her most recent song, 'All I Expected', was released in early June. She claims she created the song in 2021 after suffering from writer's block for months.
'The Voice' Season 24 airs on Mondays at 8 pm ET and Tuesdays at 9 pm ET on NBC.
