'The Voice' Season 17 Top 13 finals: Ricky Duran dedicates emotional performance to his girlfriend and fans claim he could win the title
'The Voice' season 17 returned on Monday night for the Top 13 live finals.
Last week, we saw seven contestants go home after they received the lowest votes. Back again on Monday night, the Top 13 contestants performed for coaches, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and America's votes hoping to make it to next week. This week, it is 'dedication night' on The Voice, and the contestants dedicated their performance to an important person or thing in their life.
One contestant who touched fans and viewers not only with his voice but also his dedication was Ricky Duran from Team Blake. Performing his version of 'You are the Best Thing' by Ray LaMontagne, Ricky dedicated his performance to his girlfriend Alyssa who recently suffered from a stroke but thankfully she recovered fully.
The performance he dedicated to her was soulful and filled with emotions. His raspy vocals seemed so effortless, proving he's definitely improved since the Blind Auditions. Ricky performed with confidence and ease, making it even more captivating not only for the coaches but also for viewers back home who are rooting for the singer, hoping he makes it to the finals.
Post his performance, the coaches couldn't help but rave about his performance. John Legend shared that he thinks Ricky carries himself like an artist saying, "You were born to be there.” Blake, on the other hand, thought Ricky has a chance of winning this season because wherever he goes, people are talking about him. "You always deliver a solid performance,” Blake said praising him.
Taking to Twitter post his performance, fans couldn't help but get emotional with his performance, and his dedication. "Wow Ricky Duran has endured so much. He is an amazing and soulful artist!! Ricky nails every performance and deserves to win this season. At least get Ricky to the finale!! #TheVoice," wrote a fan.
Adding to that another fan said, "Yaaaaaaasss Ricky! Brought me life singin my song!! Excellent job #YouBettaSANG #TheVoice."
