'The Voice' Season 18: Nick Jonas picks Roderick Chambers over Tate Brusa but angry fans think coach messed up
The fourth pair to take the knockout stage tonight on 'The Voice' was Roderick Chambers and Tate Brusa from Coach Nick Jonas's team.
Roderick had chosen the song 'Redbone' by Childish Gambino. During the rehearsal, Nick told him that he is great with his voice but he could add a touch of personality to the performance and a little attitude could help him raise the bar. Special coach singer-songwriting legend James Taylor exhibited a little spin that Roderick could possibly use in his performance.
Tate Brusa had decided to go with 'The Scientist' by Coldplay. He is an amazing singer with a lot of range and this time he decided to add a little more spunk to his performance by swapping his guitar with a piano since the song choice demanded the same.
Roderick was the popular choice among all the coaches after the performances. Most of it had to do with the fact that Tate is still 16 and with his voice changing, there will be times in the future when it will waver during performances. It was time for Nick to choose and he went with Roderick as the winner of the knockout, sending Tate Brusa home.
Fans of the show, however, were not happy with Nick's choice of sending the 16-year-old performer home. A fan tweeted, "I believe you choose the wrong one. tate had the audience and all! @nickjonas #VoiceKnockouts."
While another one thought Nick Jonas messed up, "@nickjonas #VoiceKnockouts you might have messed up with letting Tate go!"
Another fan wrote, "@nickjonas Thank you Nick. Now I’m crying again. Tate was so good! #VoiceKnockouts@tatebrusa." A somewhat angry user tweeted, "You messed up you need to understand the words Tate could have won this@nickjonas #VoiceKnockouts."
"@nickjonas #VoiceKnockouts I really respect you as a new coach. However I don’t think you made the right decision in letting Tate go. Just my opinion though," read another tweet.
"@nickjonas #VoiceKnockouts The young boys are going home and all they need is some coaching! I’m so sad to see Tate go home as he is amazing and with you coaching him he could have won the show!" read another tweet.
