Robert Downey Jr became a household name for the long list of work he has done in the past. However, one role that helped him find a permanent place in the hearts of people was his character as Tony Stark's Iron Man.

Downey impressed people with his acting skills once he became a part of the Marvel Universe and it was impossible for people to bid goodbye to him in 'Avengers: Endgame'.

After the movie aired, Downey thanked everyone for loving his character, hinting that he won't be reprising the role again.

Appearing on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', Downey reflected on his decision to say goodbye to the role forever. He admitted that he loved every part of it but after a point there comes a time when you have to say goodbye.

He took the example of the 'Superman' television series that aired and how the actor playing the role of the Superman was told that he had grown old for the character. Downey confessed that he did not want the same thing happening to him. He said, "It is better to fire yourself before to get fired".

Even though Downey will no longer be seen in the role, there is no doubt that he would always be remembered for his role as Iron Man. Recently, the actor starred in 'Dr Dolittle' and took on the role of a doctor who had the ability to talk to animals.

Downey thought that the role was really special as his children were finally able to watch and enjoy a movie that he had been part of. He admitted that his children couldn't be part of the Marvel movies in the same way as they are very young.

However, when it comes to Dr Dolittle, Downey thought that it was a movie that allowed them to watch him perform.

At the same time, Downey spoke about his production company, Team Downey that recently released its YouTube series, 'The Age of AI'. The show looks into the rise of artificial intelligence. The actor stated that the show was a means for him to get educated about data and techniques.

He admitted that even when he played the role of Iron Man, there wasn't a lot that he understood and thought that this could be a good step to get educated.
