Spoilers for Episode 1 of HBO's 'The Third Day' titled 'Friday - The Father'

The premiere episode of HBO's 'The Third Day' was an intriguing one, to say the least. Serene visuals, a breathtaking landscape, a curious soundtrack and a mysterious storyline kickstart the Jude Law, Katherine Waterston, Paddy Considine, Emily Watson, Naomie Harris, John Dagleish, Nico Parker and Freya Allan-starrer show.

The upcoming Episode 2 titled 'Saturday - The Son' is sure to take the story to the next level.

By now, we have safely established that there is no way that the inhabitants of this mysterious island aren't suspicious. As strange and unnatural as this place is - cut off from the mainland, surrounded by water and mystique - the people who inhabit it even more so. "We're all people of god here," they keep telling Sam. At the same time, they keep saying how everyone looks after every one on this island. At first sight, the locals on this island seem way more than normal - until they don't.

So now, it is very difficult to predict what will come in the storyline going forward. But there is no doubt about the fact that just like the islanders, there is little we really know about Sam. In particular, the boy he keeps in and around the island - the young curly-haired boy he chases down only to lose him again and again. This child undoubtedly seems to have a connection with Sam's son - he has repeated several times in the episode that he has two daughters and a son. But there is foreshadowing that something is up with Sam - he seems to be running away from his past. So what happened to his son?

Here at Osea Island, Sam is on the path to confront what are his worst fear and clearly a past he yearns to forget. But how long before reality catches up with him? How long till he can tell hallucinations from the truth?

There are so many questions that the premiere episode of 'The Third Day' brings forth. What is with the numerous references to land, salt and sand here? The most intriguing of which is the question about him robbing himself - how did the money turn up in the back of his car?

'The Third Day' airs on Mondays from 9-10 pm ET on HBO. The episodes will be available to stream on HBO Max following the airing on the network.
