'The Talk' sees 'Star Trek: Picard' actor Patrick Stewart joke about James McAvoy wanting to 'play every young version' of him
In today’s episode of CBS' Daytime Emmy Award-winning talk show ‘The Talk’, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood, rapper Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba and Marie Osmond discussed a variety of matters. Journalist Gayle King speaking on Ashley Graham’s podcast ‘Pretty Big Deal’ talked about a “sexy photoshoot” she did back when she was in college.
The hosts at ‘The Talk’ also talked about ‘Empire’ actor Taraji P. Henson’s impending marriage, a controversial article about “sexual barters”, Patrick Stewart’s new ‘Charlie’s Angels’ reboot and Jennifer Aniston’s possible new tie-up with actor Mark Ruffalo.
British actor Sir Patrick Stewart arrived on the show to talk about his role as Bosley in ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and ‘Star Trek’. A thoroughly jet-lagged Stewart said traveling between the continents had gotten harder the older he became.
Making a ‘Star Trek’ reference, Stewart said, “It’s high time we had a transporter.” In ‘Charlie’s Angels’, actor Kristen Stewart has a fight scene with the British actor. On being asked if she was nervous about fighting him, Stewart said, “We didn’t spend much time together -- there was no socializing or anything. And I had started to think, ‘Ooh, she doesn’t like me.’”
“She’s got a great right arm,” he said making a punching motion. Speaking about his role as Jean-Luc Picard in ‘Star Trek: Next Generation’, a role he is all set to reprise in the upcoming ‘Star Trek: Picard’, Stewart said, “He (Picard) is 18 years older. But here’s the comforting part: So am I.”
Stewart also talked about his ‘X-Men’ co-star James McAvoy, who played a younger Professor Xavier (Stewart plays the older role) in the films. According to Stewart, McAvoy was interested in playing the role of a younger Picard.
"He wants to play every young version of everything I do," joked Stewart. "He is a brilliant and talented actor and a very delightful, and very funny and cheeky person."
Stewart also spoke about how Picard came to have a canine co-star in the upcoming series. "He (the dog) is my only buddy, certainly at the beginning of the series. I'm limited in what I can tell you, but he's no longer in Starfleet, nothing to do with the Federation. He is in France, looking after his Chateau Picard vineyard. And I said, 'Well if I'm going to be doing that, to keep him company and keep him happy, he must have a dog... However, it has to be a pit bull.' I'm a campaigner for that breed."
'The Talk' airs Monday through Friday at 11 a.m. PT.
