Long before the realm of entertainment saw ‘Ozark’ and ‘Breaking Bad’, we were introduced to Tony Soprano through David Chase’s ‘The Sopranos’, a long-loved crime drama built around an Italian-American mobster.

The series continues to center many discussions even 13 years after its conclusion for one reason that has got imprinted in the history of television. While ‘The Sopranos’ ended with Tony’s fate up in the air, teasing fans for more than a decade, Chase has accidentally spoiled the main character for its many fans.

In an interview obtained by The Independent, Chase has explained the ultimate cliffhanger by shedding light on Tony’s death, although unintentionally. This apparently took place during his conversation with the co-writers of ‘The Sopranos Sessions’, Alan Sepinwall and Matt Zoller Seitz. The book is based on the hit HBO series.

When Sepinwall asks Chase, “When you said there was an end point, you don’t mean Tony at Holsten’s, you just meant, “I think I have two more years’ worth of stories left in me”. The creator responds to this saying, “Yes, I think I had that death scene around two years before the end…”

“Tony was going to get called to a meeting with Johnny Sack in Manhattan, and he was going to go back through the Lincoln Tunnel for this meeting, and it was going to go black there and you never saw him again as he was heading back, the theory being that something bad happens to him at the meeting. But we didn’t do that,” he added.

When Seitz tells Chase, “You realize, of course, that you just referred to that as a death scene”, the creator struck with realization says, “F*** you guys”, according to the Daily Mail.

Although fans waited for years to know what happened to their favorite character, some are of the opinion that Chase should have retained the uncertainty forever without revealing Tony’s death.

While one said, “David Chase just spoiled the last episode of the sopranos and now. I have nothing left to live for”. Another irked fan wrote, “My unsheeplike opinion: I’m fucking sick of David Chase. Had his 13 years of post-sopranos glory denying Tony was whacked and all that “use your own imagination bullshit.” Now saying it was a death scene? That was one of the WORST death scenes in the shows history if so.”

Whereas another fan tweeted, “FINALLY after all these years we learn Tony's fate in that closing scene. Pretty sure no one's going to be surprised. #Sopranos. The Sopranos creator David Chase accidentally reveals Tony's fate.”
