Jamie Burns has been on quite the roll ever since the murder of the medium, Kyle, at that frat house. While he claims this isn't him, throughout the third season of 'The Sinner' we have seen him progress from being a latent violent maniac to a full-fledged one with a certain penchant for self-destruction.

He has freaked out at his wife, threatened random city people with nihilism, of all things, traumatized a former student by overspeeding a car to the point of an almost crash and then resorted to burying detective Harry Ambrose alive with promises of retrieving him just in time. And now, as we delve into the seventh episode of this season of the USA Network anthology thriller, Jamie can be seen making elaborate claims of how he is ready to face the consequences of his actions, agreeing to let it even kill him, if need be.

In a newly released promo for the episode titled 'Part VII', Ambrose can be seen struggling to get out of the grave Jamie buried him in, As he huffs and puffs, trying to punch and kick his way out, the clip pans to the New York detective investigating Kyle's murder and she asks "Do you know where he is?" It could be either about Ambrose, or Jamie considering the detective is missing, and the murder suspect is on the prowl. The scene then shifts to Jamie walking up the porch of his and Leela's home, which is surrounded by cop surveillance 24/7. The security reminds Jamie of the order of protection that Leela has issued against him, to which he replies in a feeble voice that he just wants to see his wife.

It's obvious that Jamie's duality is leaving him more conflicted than ever, but there is no clear way out. In voiceovers, Leela Burns can be heard telling Jamie that he has to face what he has done, otherwise, it will kill him. The former high-school teacher turned homicidal maniac replies that he is ready to let his actions kill himself. Even with the lingering hope of Ambrose actually making it out alive, considering he is the common protagonist in every season, the closer Jamie gets to Leela and their newborn baby, the more concern it raises for their safety. While Jamie might be cautious enough to not physically harm them, the psychological grasp of Nick might force him to do otherwise.

'The Sinner' season 3 airs on Thursdays at 10 pm only on USA Network.
