SHINee has confirmed a new album is set to release sometime this year, but first, the boys want to meet their fans

As SHINee gear up for their highly anticipated comeback this year, SM Entertainment's popular South Korean boy band has a special event planned for its promotion. Stans will get a chance to meet up with the group as SHINee will engage in team activities, share memories, drop teasers or potential spoilers, and more.

Release date

'The Ringtone: SHINee is Back' will take place on January 31 at 7.00 pm KST / 5.00 am EST.

Concept

The special broadcast will allow fans to meet the members of SHINee after a long time and will also feature as a promotional event for their return. The K-pop group will look back at their past activities and music as they share memories with fans in a more intimate space. The event will be more than just news and announcements.

Furthermore, for followers who are eager and can't contain their excitement for a SHINee comeback, the group has understood the need that fans at least need a glimpse and will drop potential spoilers for a new album.

As per the reports, it is confirmed that their comeback project will be larger than a single release. As of now, the title and release date of the album hasn't been revealed, but it is allegedly in the final stages of production.

When it arrives, it will follow roughly two-and-a-half years after their sixth studio album 'The Story of Light'. Prior to that, the group released their Japanese LP 'Five' in 2017. According to Naver, the live event may also tease the concept of a new single from their upcoming album.

Comeback announcement

The group's label SM Entertainment first announced the comeback on New Year's Day during the SMTOWN LIVE 'Culture Humanity' concert. The announcement came with a trailer that featured a throwback to some of their biggest hits since 2008. The clip plays scenes from iconic SHINee music videos in chronological order with songs including 2008's 'Replay', 2009's 'Juliette', 2012's 'Sherlock', and 2018's 'Our Page', before dropping the bomb that "2021 SHINEE IS BACK."
