LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fox has revoked the popular medical drama series, 'The Resident', after six seasons, making it the first show the network has canceled in 2023. The network cited a decline in ratings over the years as the reason for the cancellation. According to various reports, the show's ratings averaged about 6.9 million viewers per episode after seven days of delayed viewing during season six. However, this is a 12% drop from season five, and a significant 35% drop from season one. The final episode of the series aired in January 2023.

Created by Amy Holden Jones, Roshan Sethi, and Hayley Schore, the Matt Czuchry starrer 'The Resident' was a dark medical drama that focused on an idealistic young doctor starting his residency under the tutelage of a senior resident who initially seemed tough and brilliant, but was ultimately revealed to be a cunning and deadly psychopath.
