‘The Red Shadows’: Release date, plot and all you need to know about AMC's upcoming French crime drama

Television cable network AMC which has gained a reputation for producing series such as ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Breaking Bad’ is gearing up to premiere its new French crime drama series ‘The Red Shadows’ (Les Ombres Rouges) through its streaming service Sundance Now. The six-part series will air weekly on Thursdays. Ahead of ‘The Red Shadows’ premiere, here’s everything you need to know about the series.

Release Date

‘The Red Shadows’ is premiering on Sundance Now on January 23.

Plot 

According to the official synopsis, ‘The Red Shadows’ centers around Aurore Garnier, a police officer in the pursuit of her sister Clara who was kidnapped at the age of four in 1993. Her mother was killed during the handover of the ransom money. Following an investigation, she learns about Clara’s whereabouts and convinces her to come home, against the will of her brothers and father. However, Clara’s return unravels the family’s secrets of years, triggering a series of violent events.

Cast

Nadia Farès

Nadia Farès essays the role of Aurore Garnier in ‘The Red Shadows’. She is popular for appearing in movies such as, ‘The Crimson Rivers’, ‘Wasabi’ and ‘War’. She also featured in many television series including ‘Rogue : L'Ultime Affrontement (War)’, ‘Délicate chatte’, and ‘Marseille’.

Manon Azem

Manon Azem, who plays Clara Garnier in ‘The Red Shadows’ is predominantly known for her work of years as a voice artist. In 2001, she dubbed for the voice of Emma Watson for her character Hermoine Granger in Harry Potter. She became the official French voice in all the Harry Potter films until she decided to stop dubbing in 2015, stating her voice had turned ‘too serious and incompatible’ for the British actress.

Showrunners/Creators

Sébastien Le Délézir has helmed ‘The Red Shadows’ who has also served as a journalist and screenwriter for French television series. ‘Murders in Dunkirk’, ‘Emma’ and ‘Better Life’ are some of his notable works.
