'The Plot Against America' sees Herman and Bess' family get targeted by Rabbi, but Evelyn marries him anyway

'The Plot Against America' sees Herman and Bess' own family target them in what looks like an elaborate set up for revenge. The family will not have to move to Kentucky or face the wrath of the government

'The Plot Against America' in episode 5 will see Evelyn Finkel (Winona Rider) finally realize her dream -- to marry a worthy man. She believes Rabbi Lionel (John Turturro) is a man who can speak nothing but the truth and has fallen hook, line, sinker for his charm and stature. In the upcoming episode, we will see how she will become one of the main reasons why her sister Bess' family ends up getting uprooted from their home in New Jersey.

The promo of the upcoming episode sees Herman inform his family that they have been chosen to be a part of the Homestead project in which one Jewish family is given a chance to move to a different part of the country to live and expand their horizons. In the last episode, when speaking about this project, Rabbi Lionel had promised that the family would have a choice in whether they take up the offer or not, but from the looks of the promo, it seems that the Herman family may be forced into it.

When Herman's brother Monty asks him about if he has to really move and doesn't have a choice, Herman explains that there is no real choice in this matter. If he rejected the offer, it wouldn't be too long before cops arrive at his doorstep and Monty points out that they already did. This makes us wonder if he is referring to Alvin's situation with the Feds tracking his every move and putting pressure on his employer (who happens to be his uncle) to fire him. It also seems like Sandy will finally get a chance to understand why his father was right all along and how the government was hoodwinking the Jewish population in the name of opportunities.

What is worse is that all of this seems to stem from Rabbi Lionel's hatred from Herman, especially after their heated debate about Sandy going to a State dinner where a Nazi was the Guest of Honor. Bess seems to be quite sure that all of this elaborate planning seems more like a way to exact revenge than anything else and the one person that they could think about would be Rabbi Lionel. While until the last episode, Evelyn was his fiance who not only accompanied him to a State Dinner but also danced with the Nazi in question; in the new episode, she has finally managed to realize the dream of marrying a man of worth. But is it worth losing her family over him?

If things continued in the same path, then destruction is where Bess and Evelyn's relationship is headed.

'The Plot Against America' will air on HBO on Mondays at 9 pm ET.
