'The Mandalorian' Season 2 Episode 8 Spoilers: Will finale serve as a backdoor pilot for Ahsoka Tano's spinoff?

As 'The Mandalorian' Season 2 inches towards it's finale on Disney+ on Friday (December 18), fans will be hoping for some major action from a chapter that just might turn out to be the best in the series' history so far. Last season's finale saw Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) and his forces attempt to take Baby Yoda/Grogu but were outclasses by Mando/Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Cara Dune (Gina Carano), and Greef Karga (Carl Weathers). This time around, Moff has Grogu and the advantage.

Even as one part of 'The Mandalorian' audience looks forward to a massive Mando vs Gideon face-off, some fans are hoping the finale will see the return of Rosario Dawson as the famed Padawan warrior, Ahsoka Tano. The character was seen for the first time in a live-action role in 'The Jedi' this season and was central to the series and Grogu's character arc. Ahsoka revealed the name of the force-wielder and gave a brief history along with the way forward.

And it appeared she had a mission of her own — hunt for Admiral Thrawn, who was believed to be dead. However, fans still speculate an Ahsoka appearance might be in the offing. In a way, it does make sense for an Ahsoka cameo as the character now has her own spin-off in the works. 'The Mandalorian' finale could also work as the backdoor pilot for 'Ahsoka' and with the series already in development, this just might be a possibility and also some major fans service.

However, the finale is set up in a way that much of the attention will be on Grogu, who was famously absent in Episode 7 as Mando along with new allies, Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) reached out to Dune and managed to acquire former Imperial sharpshooter, Migs Mayfeld for his help to track Gideon. So, we can say, much of the finale will be all about rescuing Grogu. But the room for Ahsoka to make a cameo is still open, and for that matter, we won't be surprised if Bo-Katan Kryze might decide to pop up as well.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of an Ahsoka Tano cameo in the finale?

'The Mandalorian' Season 2 airs its finale on Friday, December 18, 2020, on Disney+
