The South African entertainment industry is emerging as a force to be reckoned with and we have seen a lot of good projects coming from the aforementioned industry in recent months. Netflix recently revealed that they are going to ramp up the production on African projects and the latest venture to arrive on the streaming platform is ‘The Man of God’.

Directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters, the movie revolves around a young man named Samuel who is torn between accepting his torturous religious background and living his own life. The premise of the movie seems to be based on the world we live in because the same things are happening all across the globe.

When does ‘The Man of God’ release and where can you watch it?

The upcoming movie will be premiering exclusively on Netflix on Saturday, April 16. According to the Netflix Press Site, the film will be available for streaming at 3.01 am EST. Viewers can download the app from Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

What is ‘The Man of God’ all about?

The official synopsis reads, “Samuel forsakes his harsh religious upbringing to live his own life but his soul remains caught between the world and the faith he left behind.”

Who stars in the upcoming Netflix film?

The movie is stacked with amazing stars and sees Akah Nnani playing the lead role of Samuel Obalolu while Osas Ighodaro stars as Teju. It also features Atlanta Bridget Johnson playing the character of Joy.

Akah Nnani

Born and raised in Nigeria, Akah Nnani is one of the brightest talents working in the African entertainment industry. The star made his professional acting debut in 2015 with the TV mini-series ‘One Chance’. Meanwhile, his feature film debut came with the 2017 romantic comedy ‘Isoken’. Since then, Nnani has been seen in several projects such as ‘The Royal Hibiscus Hotel’, ‘Living Beast’, ‘Makate Must Tell’, ‘My Village People’, and ‘Hide ‘N’ Seek’.



 

Other actors to feature in the movie include Dorcas Shola Fapson (Rekya), Mawuli Gavor (Pastor Zack), Shawn Faqua (Brother Nonso), and Eucharia Anunobi Ekwu (Rev. Mrs Gift Asuquo). 

Creators

The movie is helmed by Bolanle Austen-Peters and written by Shola Dada. Meanwhile, James Amuta and Joseph Umoibom are the producers of the film.

On the other hand, Peters, David Okpan, Damiel Olaoluwa, and Yakubu Yahaya serve as executive producers on the show.
