'The L Word: Generation Q' Episode 4: With Shane's wife back in the picture, where does she go from here?
This story contains major spoilers for 'The L Word: Generation Q' Episode 4 titled 'LA Times'
At the beginning of 'The L Word: Generation Q', Shane (Katherine Moennig) had just returned to Los Angeles after selling all her salons. Not a lot was disclosed about her time away barring that she was having differences in her marriage with Quiara (Lex Scott Davis) and had moved back to the city shortly after that. She was served with divorce papers two episodes ago but held on to it unable to bring herself to sign it.
In the latest episode, when Shane is with Bette (Jennifer Beals) just before leaving for her surprise birthday party, they spark a joint, share a laugh, and then almost as a revelation, Shane signs her divorce papers. But just before she signed the divorce papers, Shane has sex with Lena (Mercedes Mason) in a drunken stupor. Adding to the stupor was Lena's constant reassurance that things with her girlfriend Tess (Jamie Clayton) are complicated.
At Shane's birthday party, however, Tess notices the increasing proximity between Shane and Lena. Visibly concerned, she confronts Lena about their close relationship. And when Lena lies through her teeth, Tess just knows the truth — and delivers the best line of the episode: "When you look back at our relationship, I want you to know that it wasn't your infidelity that ended us. It was this moment."
Fans feel particularly bad about how Lena cheated on Tess with Shane. "Tess didn't seem angry once this episode. She seemed hurt and sad. I think she doesn't seem the type to misdirect her anger at Shane. My guess is that Lena is gonna stick around to try and get with Shane properly, be upset Quiara is there, then end up leaving because neither Shane nor Tess wants her anymore," speculated a fan.
By the end of the episode, in a very surprising turn of events, Shane's ex-wife shows up. Making an appearance in the most dazzling of dresses we have seen, Quiara shows up out of the blue and crashes her birthday.
Quiara's entry on the show is going to prove tumultuous for Shane. She had just revealed to Bette that she is still very much in love with Quiara, but they drifted apart over the subject of kids — she doesn't want kids, neither does she want to raise them when Quiara is on tour. But crashing Shane's party must mean something — especially since she did not wish her all day.
Back in the bar, with Tess very well aware of Lena's infidelity with Shane, fans are already expecting drama.
"It's gonna suck for the bar because Tess and Lena are probably aren't going to get through this," noted a fan, adding, "They were supposed to run the bar together and now they're fighting/not together. Regardless of their relationship status, they're going to have to work together so there is definitely going to be a very interesting dynamic between Shane, Lena, and Tess now especially because Quiara just popped up out of nowhere. Lena is completely obsessed with Shane and we all know how that goes. Shane is obviously not over this Quiara because of the whole dream thing so she's gonna have to fight to be with her and I really want to see that part of Shane."
Some fans downright disagree with Lena bashing how she treated Shane that night. "I feel bad for Tess. I hate Lena. She seems like a leech. It wasn't a moment of weakness or something that just happened because of chemistry, then being all 'we shouldn't have done this, this was a mistake' and all that shit. She sought out Shane, had no remorse, then continued to pursue after the fact right in front of her girlfriend and had the nerve to act like it was nothing when she was confronted, then that fake apology. Can't wait for her to see Quiara has rocked up and be knocked down a peg. I get the feeling that she thought her and Shane was more than it actually was."
With Shane, Tess and Lena working together at the bar and Quiara back in the picture, where is Shane headed?
