'The Killing Kind' Ending Explained: Jaw-dropping identity of Belinda's killer revealed
Warning: Contains spoilers for 'The Killing Kind'
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: 'The Killing Kind' is streaming on Hulu from May 14, 2024, and the mystery-thriller tells the story of a barrister named Ingrid Lewis (Emma Appleton) who investigates the death of her colleague Belinda Grey (Sara Powell). She gets help from a former client John Webster (Colin Morgan), whom she helped escape from a stalking case.
'The Killing Kind' created by Zara Hayes moves back and forth in time featuring instances from the life of Ingrid and John. Ingrid harbors guilt about the death of Emma Seaton (Bethany Muir) who was thought to be dead after John Webster's acquittal from the stalking case she accused him of. As it turns out though, Emma is seen alive in a CCTV footage at the end of Episode 5.
John Webster who claims his innocence in the Emma Seaton case helps Ingrid out as he confesses to having feelings for her. Ingrid reluctantly trusts him. Meanwhile, it comes to the fore that Emma was helped by her brother Jake Seaton (Charles Furness) and Michael Nevins, brother of Craig Nevins, who is another one of Ingrid's aggrieved clients. Jake dies in an accident after revealing Michael Nevins' role in the murder of Judge Peter Stuart (Richard Dixon). Emma killed Judge Stuart as revenge for pronouncing the verdict that helped John escape.
Throughout the season, Ingrid is being threatened by a mysterious person. Can she escape? Who killed Belinda? Here we explain the end of 'The Killing Kind'.
Emma kidnaps Ingrid and confesses to killing Belinda
Emma Kidnaps Ingrid and holds her responsible for helping John get out scot-free. Emma describes the torture that she went through with John Webster.
Emma and Jake planned to fake Emma's death with Michael Nevins. Ingrid tells Emma about Jake's death and that breaks her completely. She wants justice from John. Emma asks Ingrid to call John and tell him that Emma has been arrested and then set up a meeting.
She confesses to killing Belinda and tells Ingrid that she never wanted to kill her until she heard Belinda on the phone praising Ingrid.
Ingrid learns the truth about John Webster
In a sequence from the final episode, Ingrid finally begins trusting John when he makes a mistake to give away his role in the entire conspiracy. Jake had told Ingrid about Michael Nevins' involvement with Emma but John was not there when this was happening. While having their meal, John says something that indicates his knowledge of Michael Nevins' role.
When Ingrid investigates further, she discovers that it was John who posed as Michael and contacted Emma through a dark web channel keeping his identity incognito. Ingrid further learns that he had posed as Mark Orpen (Elliot Barnes-Worrell) and was chatting with Flora, the woman Mark was having an affair with, on the day she died after being burnt in a fire at Flora's house.
Ingrid reveals the truth about John to Emma and when he comes to meet them, they collaborate to fight him and eventually push him into the water to kill him.
Ingrid saves Emma and pleads her case
In her statement to the police, Ingrid names John as the culprit and lies about the role of Emma. She also pleads her case and serves her idea of justice for what she had done to Emma earlier by helping John in the stalking case.
Ingrid seems to be living a good life many months later when she receives a phone call from the number that belongs to John Webster, possibly setting up a sequel.
