Director Sam Levinson and HBO have finally dropped the official teaser trailer of its upcoming series ‘The Idol’. From the looks of it, the trailer has a perfect amalgamation of drugs, sex, orgies and scandalous love affairs.

The trailer starts with rock and roll music playing in the background. Then we see a glimpse of a character who could be a set choreographer. She is seen saying, “Alright music. 7, 8. Lick it. Spank it. Drop it.” The main protagonist Lily-Rose Depp can be seen dancing to a music video and that gives us a hint of how becoming a pop star and an idol is not an easy journey at all. In the midst of becoming a star, Depp's character gets involved in drugs, affairs, sex, orgies, controversies and scandals. 'The Idol' is set to release by the end of 2022.

Furthermore, in the trailer, we hear the same voice-over saying, “More, more, more. Orgy.” An actor then says, “Why don’t you just be yourself.” To which Lily-Rose Depp’s character responds, “Because there’s nothing about me that’s relatable.” Then we see another character whispering, “Do you trust me” and Lily replies, “Not really.” Towards end, we see the same character having a sensuous make-out session on set with her. Overall, the teaser-trailer has given us a hint of what the plot of the series is going to be about.

'I’m sick of this pornographer'

Ever since 'The Idol' teaser was released, fans have been bashing director Levinson for making a raunchy kind of soft series. “Idek what this about but I can tell it’s about to be the most toxic and divisive piece of media that’s ever been released,” said a fan. “This dude Sam Levinson can't write about anything except sex and drugs,” added another. “I’m sick of this pornographer,” said a user while another wrote, “Looks interesting, I’m watching it for Rachel Sennott, Lily Rose Depp, Jennie (very interested to see how she does at acting) and Debby Ryan."

“Sam Levinson make a media property without nudity or drugs challenge,” said a fan. “One of the best mainstream musicians of this century with one of the worst filmmakers of all time,” noted another. “I thought why this looks so bad and like Euphoria 2.0 then I saw that the co-creator is Sam Levinson so yeah this looks terrible,” a fan mentioned.
