When have you known 'The Haves And Have Nots' for playing it easy with cliffhangers? In the latest episode of the show, Veronica (Angela Robinson) finds a way to lure Benny (Tyler Lepley) to her house on the pretext of giving him information about his mother Hanna's (Crystal Fox) rapist, Derrick. Several distasteful Yo Mamma jokes later, Benny realizes that he isn't going to get the address and leaves her house quickly. He ends up at Hanna's home — the person least likely to hand over the address. She slams the door in his face and tells him to leave, else she will call the police. At the end of the episode, Benny runs right into Derrick. The promos for the next episode seem wild and intense, as Benny might just end up murdering Derrick.

The Benny-Veronica-Hanna-Derrick were the interesting and tension-filled scenes of the episode, and it would be so much better if the show focussed more on the main storylines rather than diverting to other plots that just seem highly irrelevant and unnecessary. For starters, we could really do without the Jeffrey and Madison hot and happening sex life stories. Jeffrey discovers that Madison's rather close friend has turned up looking for sex, and for some reason, Jeffrey is annoyed, even though he insisted that he and Madison are just friends. But turns out that this might change in the next episode as well.

Colby tells Benny that they can upset Veronica by showing her 'how gay' they are. Colby seems to end up in Veronica's pool and we see her cocking the gun. There's a reason you don't mess with Veronica, why don't people realize that? Between thirsting for young married poolboys, Veronica doesn't hesitate from shooting people on sight, if needed. But Veronica's days might be numbered too, as Kathryn Cryer in jail decides to throw her under the bus, holding her responsible for Jennifer's death. There could be hope for the folks of 'HAHN', after all. Veronica and Benny might find each other in jail.

Meanwhile, Hanna might find love soon, unless it's a trap of course. While trying to wade through her responsibilities as Kathryn's will executor, she just might find something special with an accountant named Al, who promises to help her, provided she just comes out for coffee with him. Jim Cryer is still in hospital and like us, he's also tired of being seen in a sling. The doctor says that he won't be going home anytime soon. So, we're going to see Kathryn in jail for quite a bit, and probably Jim biding his time in hospital for the rest of the season.

Episode 17 makes way for another stressful upcoming episode and hopefully, some arcs are wrapped up quickly. Will Benny kill Derrick? Will Veronica go to jail? Will Wyatt (Aaron O' Connell) ever be in his senses? Who knows?

'The Haves And Have Nots' airs on OWN Network on Tuesdays at 8 pm.
