'The Handmaid's Tale' Season 4 Episode 3 Spoilers: Nick Blaine captures June, but what happened to the others?
At the end of 'The Handmaid's Tale' Season 4 Episode 2, June's hideout was smoked out by the guardians, or to be accurate, one particular guardian — June's lover — Nick Blaine. However, he is not the man that he tells June he is, or that was what Serena had hinted at pretty early on in Season 3 before Blaine had been sent to Chicago. So now, as the two of them meet, with blood on their hands and the two of them on opposing sides, is this it between them?
At the beginning of the show, many had believed that Nick could be a member of the Mayday too, and it is still unclear whose side he is on as he continues to play both sides. So when he shoots a Guardian who helped June, we wonder if he did it to hide what the Guardian knew about Mayday or if he shot him to take a betrayer down. He kneels down to come face to face with a shocked June to tell her that he had tried his best to keep her alive.

In the past, he had done his best to help her survive, but is this true any longer? Before June is locked away, Nick also asks her where the handmaids are and that is why we breathe a sigh of relief because Janine and the others are still safe. However, it looks like the wife of the house, Esther, who helped June make poison has indeed been captured because there is no mention of her.
At this point, this doesn't look like a rescue, not with Nick killing the man who protected June and safeguarded the other handmaids on the farm. So Nick is possibly going to take June back to the same place from where she had managed to escape with great difficulty. If she is taken to Aunt Lydia, there is no saying the horrors that June would have to face. We all know how much Gilead loves punishment and Episode 2 hints at a dark future for the show.
There is even a sense of the premiere episodes playing out darker than the previous seasons as June decides to become a Mayday agent fighting for change and revolution. In addition to this, a picture released by Hulu also features June being captured by two guardians who hold each of her sides while she herself is in cuffs. This further confirms how June is in for some really bad times and mostly it would be the high council's need to find out the other handmaids who are still at large.
'The Handmaid's Tale' Season 4 will stream on Hulu on Wednesdays.
