In 'Grey's Anatomy', Izzie hallucinated her ex-lover Denny Dukette after he died from a heart problem

Ghost Melendez is not enough for fans. The character, played by Nicholas Gonzalez, was killed off in the Season 3 finale after he succumbed to injuries in a building collapse. Currently, his spirit is roaming around the hospital and being nothing less of a spiritual guru to his former lover Claire. The question that fans are raising is, why kill him off at all, if he is to return as a ghost? They want him back properly, but unfortunately that's not going to happen. He's dead for sure. But fans are reminded of 'Grey's Anatomy' where a character returned, as part of their ex-lover's imagination, when she had brain tumor. 

"It really hurts having to see Dr. Melendez as a ghost. I miss him! #TheGoodDoctor@GoodDoctorABC," a fan tweeted. "I’m need Dr. Melendez to stop being a ghost #TheGoodDoctor," another fan wrote. "For all of this they might as well kept melendez on the show #TheGoodDoc," a fan tweeted. "I will never get over @gooddrwriters killing off Neil Melendez. Seeing @IamNickGonzalez is playing with my emotions. Stop it right now. It is rude #TheGoodDoctor," a fan tweeted.

Others are comparing the show to 'Grey's Anatomy' and wondering whether Claire has a brain tumor like Izzie from GA did, and whether she would also have ghost sex with Melendez. In GA, Izzie hallucinated her ex-lover Denny Dukette after he died from a heart problem. "The last time a TV Dr was seeing a dead Person was Greys Anatomy & it was because Dr. Izzy had a brain tumor. Does Dr. Browne have a tumor so she’s seeing Dr Melendez? If not, why show Dr Melendez like that? Why bother killing him off @gooddrwriters#GoodDoctor #TheGoodDoctor," a fan wrote. "Love @IamNickGonzalezbut hoping the vision version doesn't go on too long. Pls no Dead Denny scenario here. Also: still irked they killed off Melendez," wrote another. Yet another chimed in: "I really hope ghost Melendez is very short-lived. Loved the character, love the actor but good god don't make this like Dead Denny on Grey's. #TheGoodDoctor," another fan wrote.

This is a Covid-centric season and all the doctors are struggling with the illness that has impacted their lives emotionally and physically. 

'The Good Doctor' is airing on ABC, Mondays at 10 pm.
