'The Flash' Season 6 Episode 18 Preview: Can it be that Barry's speed is actually trapped inside of him?
It has not been an easy ride for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) ever since the death of the Speed Force. With residual speed, there is hardly much the Flash could do. The best instance was when he was barely supporting when Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) took on Ragdoll. However, in light of the recent developments, and Mirror Iris (Candice Patton) dying in the last episode, the immediate focus is to get the real Iris out of the Mirror dimension.
The common question though is how would he do it without powers? Popular fan theories suggest that Barry might have to save Iris using his wit and will rather than suiting up. With Godspeed and Pied Piper set to make an appearance in the show, it sure does shake things up for Barry as he has to deal with a speedster and a foe. Whether the changes in the multiverse ringing in post 'Crisis', the question of how the event has affected the characters remains.
And the fact the first prototype of the artificial speed force machine bombed, it remains to be seen if Barry has an ace up his sleeve to rescue Mirror Iris who herself has been attempting to get out of the mirror dimension. In many ways, the upcoming episode, 'Pay the Piper' poses more questions than answers. The official synopsis reads: "Barry turns to Hartley Rathaway for help when Godspeed returns unexpectedly; Iris tries to escape the Mirrorverse; after Barry realizes one of the changes from Crisis is that The Flash and Pied Piper are now enemies, things get tense."
One of the fan speculations was that Barry & Co. would look to capture Godspeed and use his speed to recreate the Speed Force. The second theory would be that the speed was within Barry all along. And perhaps what he needs is that push to get them out. For this, we can look back at the time when Barry was trapped in the speed force. While it did look like he learned so much about it, the knowledge wasn't really touched upon. This shows the possibility of Barry having his powers within all the while.
