LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: DC has set the record straight by bringing together various DC superheroes together in the ultimate ‘The Flash’ film set to release on June 16, 2023. The movie will feature a multiverse concept with appearances by Michael Keaton as Batman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Sasha Calle as Supergirl. This multiverse approach allows for exciting crossovers and the potential for unexpected character interactions. Apparently, a new familiar character is promised to make an appearance, who is no other than Batman’s right-hand man, Alfred Pennyworth.

Alfred Pennyworth, a trusted and loyal butler and confidant of Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman, is a technically proficient and resourceful ally of Batman. With the return of Batman in 'The Flash," it was somewhat unexpected to see Alfred as the plot revolves around Barry Allen. 'The Flash' is set to explore Barry Allen's journey as he navigates the complexities of time travel and the multiverse. The series will include elements of the Flashpoint storyline from the comics, in which Barry changes the timeline to save his mother, inadvertently causing significant changes in the world. Perhaps Batman needs saving too as Alfred's presence hints at various theories. In any case, the return of important supporting characters is a surprising element that can only add more exciting angles in the film.

Who is Alfred Pennyworth?

Alfred Pennyworth is a fictional character in the DC Comics universe, primarily associated with the Batman franchise. He is traditionally depicted as the loyal butler and trusted advisor to Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman. Alfred has been portrayed as a father figure to Bruce, offering guidance, emotional support, and assistance in managing the day-to-day operations of Wayne Manor and the Batcave. Despite his formal role as a butler, Alfred is highly intelligent, resourceful, and skilled in various areas, including medicine, combat training, and technological expertise. His unwavering loyalty, dry wit, and dedication to the Wayne family have made him a beloved and essential character in the Batman mythos.

Ben Affleck to reprise his role one last time

‘The Flash’ recently sparked the rumor that an additional DC Comics character is returning alongside Batman and Supergirl. It’s been known for a long time that Ben Affleck will reprise the role of Batman for one more time in ‘The Flash’, and of course, the trailer has made that abundantly clear. However, the final trailer of the movie has confirmed that there’s another character that will acquaint the viewers and it is not other than Jeremy Iron’s Alfred Pennyworth. Although the role of Alfred Pennyworth had been portrayed by several actors, namely, Michael Gough, Michael Caine, Andy Serkis, and Jeremy Irons, the movie will characterize the return of Ben Affleck’s butler played by Jeremy Irons.

Is Alfred Pennyworth's return important to ‘The Flash’?

The mood around the upcoming theatrical release of 'The Flash' is getting hotter by the day. And why not, there are many reasons for such interest in the series. While it is already known that Batman and Supergirl will make a return, the participation of another star has been confirmed by the film's trailer. The film stars Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's butler. He can already be seen in the first nine seconds of the trailer, where he demonstrates his tech-savvy skills. Well, Ben Affleck is incomplete without his Alfred and that could be the reason why he appears in the movie. Also, his presence is significant because he will serve as a link between Barry aka The Flash and Batman. Let us hope that the movie will surprise us even more by the time it comes out.

‘The Flash’ is set to release on June 16, 2023.
