After Netflix cancelled its critically praised and fan-favourite Latinx remake of 'One Day at a Time' after three seasons, it is bringing another Latinx story to its audience. 

A multi-cam comedy series co-created by Mario Lopez and Seth Kurland, 'The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia' tells the story of an extraordinary child in Ashley Garcia, a 15-year-old robotics engineer and rocket scientist who moves in with her uncle when she gets the opportunity to work for NASA.

At a time when diversity, representation and inclusivity are important, Netflix's 'The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia' might take the conversation forward from where it left off upon canceling 'One Day at a Time'. Here is everything you need to know about the series:

Release date

The 16 episodes of 'The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia' will premiere on Netflix on February 17. 

Plot

According to the official synopsis of the series: "When Ashley Garcia — the world’s only 15-and-a-half-year-old robotics genius engineer and rocket scientist — gets the chance to work for a prestigious company, she moves across the country to live with her fun-loving Uncle Victor, a pro football player turned high school coach who’s never met a responsibility he can't shirk."

Cast

Newcomer Paulina Chavez stars in the series as Ashley Garcia, and singer-actor Jencarlos Canela will play Victor, the role of her uncle, Victor. Canela is best known for starring in the telenovela 'Más sabe el diablo'.
