'The Dreadful': Survival comes at a price in Sophie Turner, Kit Harington horror's new trailer
Sophie Turner and Kit Harinron reunite for the first time after 'Game of Thrones' in the gothic horror feature, 'The Dreadful'. The duo, who starred as siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow, are love interests in the new film, the trailer of which was released earlier. Set in medieval England, Turner's Anne finds herself torn between her dominating mother-in-law, Morwen (Marcia Gay Harden), and a new love interest, Jago (Harington). The film is written and directed by Natasha Kermani.
At one stage in the clip, Morwen warns her about the relationship with Jago. "You must be very cautious not to give in to sin,” Morwen says. According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie follows Anne (Turner), a woman living with her mother-in-law, Morwen (Marcia Gay Harden), in medieval English society. Things change when a man from her past (Harington) returns from war, and the curse comes in the form of a knight. Rounding up the cast are Laurence O'Fuarain as Seamus and Jonathan Howard as Brother Penros.
Speaking to People, Kermani spoke of the movie and the casting. "The talent assembled for this film embraced the spirit of indie filmmaking — braving rain, mud, and cold winter nights in the English countryside to tell a Gothic folktale of fear, desire, and regret." The director also lavished praise on Turner and Harington.
"Sophie Turner is the emotional heart of the film, delivering a beautiful performance alongside the legendary Marcia Gay Harden," adds Kermani. "And it was pure joy to reunite her with Kit Harington, who delivers an outstanding performance. I can't wait for audiences to experience this film."
During her appearance on 'Late Night With Seth Meyers,' Turner, who serves as one of the producers, revealed how she convinced Kermani to cast her on-screen 'GoT' sibling. "So, I sent the script to Kit, and he kind of sent me a message back going like, ‘Yeah, I’d love to, but this is going to be really fucking weird, Soph,’” Turner said. "And I was like, ‘What is he talking about?’ Then I was reading [the script], and it’s like, ‘Kiss, kiss, sex, kiss, sex…’ And then I’m like, ‘Oh, shoot, that’s my brother.' We put it out of our minds, and then we get on set, and it’s the first kissing scene, and we are both retching. Like, really, it is vile. It was the worst."
The Dreadful' releases in theaters, on demand, and on digital platforms is on February 20, 2026
