'The Curse Of Oak Island' Season 7: Before the finale, here are 5 moments that made fans go OMG
'The Curse Of Oak Island' Season 7 is coming to an end this week, and wow, what a run it has been. The Laginas and their team have worked relentlessly to solve the riddles of the mysterious island that have plagued scholars and treasure hunters for over 200 years.
They know they're inches away from closing in on...well something, even if it is not the treasure. The island holds a lot of secrets along with its mythical curse, and the Laginas have been struggling to uncover these nuggets of hidden information.
For instance, is the swamp really man-made? Where is the 90 foot stone? What is that anomaly at the bottom of the swamp? Questions, questions and never-ending questions.
Apart from the historical lessons, the show is of great entertainment value for fans. The bizarre theories have led to some epic moments on the show, along with some unique finds. Here are some of the moments in Season 7 that stood out.
Evidence of a burnt ship?
The team is quite sure that there is a ship-based anomaly at the bottom of the swamp, though they've gone back and forth several times on this theory. Yet, the intrigue spiked when they discovered burnt iron artifacts, thanks to blacksmith Carmen Leggae's acknowledgment, and they were convinced that it was from a pirate ship.
The team pondered the next question. What is a ship doing at the bottom of the swamp and why is it burnt? One theory is that the treasure ship was brought in and then blown up or burnt.
Investigating the Rhodendron bush for 90 Foot Stone
This is quite a fan favorite. Rick Lagina got a hint that the mythical 90 Foot Stone was buried in the backyard of the Dartmouth Heritage Museum. And so, they took off and began to dig up the Rhodendron bush. Fans were in splits over this as they saw Lagina on his hands and knees checking out the bush.
Gary Drayton finds impure lead, thinks it is silver
You can always rely on the ever-optimistic cheery Gary Drayton to provide some laughs. In one episode, Gary was convinced that he had found some silver, that unfortunately turned out to be impure lead. Fans love Gary and say that he is "the real treasure" on the island.
The return of the Restalls
The remaining members of the Restall family returned to Oak Island and their tragic story made the episode a rather an emotional one. Here, the episode deviated from its usual pattern of treasure-hunting and delved more into anecdotes about Bob Restall and his son, who lost their lives trying to find the fabled treasure on the island, around 50 years ago.
Nicolas Poussin painting
As far as strange theories go, this has been one of the weirdest ones surrounding Oak Island. The team meets researcher and theorist Corian Mol, who like many historians believe that a French artist, named Nicolas Poussin, left clues to the Oak Island treasure in his paintings.
With the help of anagrams and geometric diagrams and Poussin's famous paintings, Mol shows that a geometric shape in one of the paintings could be pointing to the location of the treasure. In short, his paintings serve as a possible treasure map. Now highly unbelievable, but that made for a supercool theory.
Well, what happens in the finale? 'The Curse Of Oak Island' airs on History Channel on Tuesdays at 9 pm.
