We are just a few more weeks away from the premiere of ‘The Conners’ season 2, and there are many pressing matters for ABC to address, but none more important than - David (Johnny Galecki) or Ben (Jay R. Ferguson)?

As we saw in the season 1 finale of the show, Darlene was yet again forced to choose between moving on in life or going back to David. We are yet to know what she has decided but fans certainly have some opinions. While many believe that Ben is the future and David the past, there are many who refuse to let go of the beautiful, deep-rooted relationship between David and Darlene.

Darlene was forced to choose between moving to Chicago with her two children so as to give her relationship with Ben a fighting chance, and staying back and getting back together with a newly single David. The choice was obvious until a few weeks back when David’s very appearance in season 2 was under a cloud after Galecki revealed that he may not be returning to the show.

However, this week he confirmed that he will be around until the show wraps up two to three more storylines. "I may be putting the (literal/figurative) pants of #davidhealy back on for one or two more stories on @theconnersabc this year. Twenty some years later I'm still in awe of this freakass carnie group who adopted me early on and still learn so very much from them whenever in their presence. @thesaragilbert #lauriemetcalf,” he captioned an Instagram featuring himself with Gilbert and Laurie Metcalf, who plays Jackie on the show.

In the context of the show, though, Darlene really owes it to herself to find out what it is like to be in a relationship with Ben. He definitely loves her, and gets along with her family. And, while David may also have these same pros going for him, there is also the fact that he is potentially her kryptonite.

Both David and Darlene were too young when they decided to be with each other, and there is a reason why they haven’t worked out so far, and they must respect their individual selves and move on. That being said, Darlene is staying back in all probability, so that the Conners can be, you know, ‘The Conners’ together.
Don’t forget to watch the season 2 premiere of ‘The Conners’ via ABC on Tuesday, September 24.
