Spoilers for ‘The Bequeathed’ on Netflix

JEONJU, SOUTH KOREA: Netflix’s latest K-drama ‘The Bequeathed’ is finally streaming and there’s a lot to unpack when it comes to the storyline.

Each episode had a lot going on for it, from people dropping dead, to the female protagonist, Yoon Seo-ha unraveling the mystery that has followed her in ‘The Bequeathed.’

While each episode of ‘The Bequeathed’ had something unique about it, and often had something to look forward to at each turning point, the final episode stole the show, for multiple reasons.

‘The Bequeathed’ on Netflix has 6 episodes, and one can’t help but wonder how all the loose ends tie up in the end.

Does Yoon Seo-ha survive?

If you have watched ‘The Bequeathed’ on Netflix, chances are you are rooting for the protagonist, aka Yoon Seo-ha the whole time. From the very episode, Seo-ha has seen more than a handful of struggles, and if there is anyone who deserves a happy ending, it is her.

In the final episodes of ‘The Bequeathed,’ Seo-ha finds out the truth about her father, and his sister, which involves an incestual twist Seo-ha would have never seen coming.

The viewers are let in on some history with the assistance of sepia-toned flashbacks which add to the overall quality of ‘The Bequeathed.’

Seo-ha’s father, Myung-ho, and his young sister, Myung-hee, had a child of incest, which was Seo-ha’s half-brother, Kim Yeong-ho. From the point of Seo-ha learning about this, everything is more fast-paced than one would have imagined.

Seo-ha is very close to being killed by Myung-hee over the land, which stays plot-centric at different points of the series, but in the end, it is Myung-hee who dies. Her son, Yeong-ho has to watch his own mother willingly walk into fire as she kills herself.

Ultimately, Seo-ha survives, despite everything that was thrown her way in ‘The Bequeathed,’ from the very first episode, until the end.

Apart from surviving all the turmoil in the all episodes of ‘The Bequeathed,’  Seo-ha also opened up her art studio, which indicates she stopped working at the college where she was never treated well.

In addition to this, Seo-ha is also present when they finally bury Myung-hee and Myung-ho’s ashes.

The final episode of ‘The Bequeathed’ also gives the viewers a glimpse into Detective Choi Sung-jun’s ending. He retired from being a detective towards the end of the K-drama and is now focussing on being a father instead.

Choi's son continues to be been arrested and in custody, which takes the viewers back to episode 2 which explains a more complex past of Detective Choi, however, the focus remains on the ongoing plot.

Nevertheless, Choi promises his son that he will be around more often now that he isn’t a detective anymore, giving Choi a more simple, yet happy ending.
