'The Bachelorette': Clare's obsession with Dale has fans saying 'it can't be healthy'

In the recent episode, all the men had to show Clare their love language and she constantly reiterated that she couldn't wait to see what Dale has to offer to her, leaving fans feeling uncomfortable

An exciting new season of 'The Bachelorette' began last week featuring Clare Crawley and her group of impressive suitors. With the limo arrivals and the first impression rose over within the premiere episode, it was now time for actual dates to begin where the men could show Clare how much they appreciate her and make an impact on her, one date at a time.

For the first dates, Clare chose the men that she'd like to meet first. Now this season was shot entirely at a Palm Springs resort and the dates were in and around the property but the producers did put in some work to make it magical. They created a wall-like structure beyond which Clare stood and the rest of the men stood below and one by one, all the men in the group went ahead to tell her why they were present over there and what Clare means to them. Before the men could start talking to her, Clare was heard saying that she can't wait to hear Dale's love language, in a voiceover. She was also seen flashing the biggest smile after Dale said what he had to say.

As a second part of the love language date, all the men had to go and bring a gift for Clare. Things like a baseball from the final game someone played in their sporting career, a T-shirt that could double up as a pajama and the queen from a chessboard symbolic of Clare being the queen to this person are some of the gifts Clare received. However, she looked the happiest when Dale brought back a half-empty bottle of dog perfume, a gift choice that audiences weren't impressed with. 

Throughout this whole activity, confessionals of her saying she was too excited to see what Dale had to offer kept playing, coupled with her too wide a smile when she kept glancing at him. Her obsession with him was something that she wasn't trying to hide and fans wanted her to give it a break for once.

"Idk why producers are still comfortable calling this show #thebachelorette when it should be called 'Clare and dale and 28 other people'" read another tweet. "I honestly hope Clare is planning on returning these gifts since it's already the dale and Clare show. #TheBachelorette" wrote another fan.

"Clare just wants to find any reason to say why she wants Dale. On the real though, Clare has issues. "I’m sorry but I can’t take Clare’s obsession with Dale seriously, he looks like her nephew. #TheBachelorette" wrote another fan. "Clare’s obsession with Dale cannot be healthy... #TheBachelorette," read another tweet. 

'The Bachelorette' airs Tuesdays at 8 pm ET on ABC.
